At one point the lead singer said he was going to be 60 this year?

He literally was so active in stage his knees seemed younger than mine

He was constantly moving in place like a NPC and at times literally looked like he was moving like an ape

It was wild

People can stay in shape as they get older, and a lot of it has to do with how physically active they are.

the show was great

the lead singer's voice seems to have not diminished at all with age. it seems like he does a lot of work to keep his instrument well tuned. his vocal clarity was insane.

i dont really listen to TOOL i just know their most popular songs from the early 2000s and stuff
yeah, i saw them like a year and a half ago. the only thing that i can say is a bummer is that he doesn't yell like he used to, but that's kind of understandable. shit hurts.

i hope they come around here again soon. would've loved a fair shot at a poster.

oh he yelled at this show. maybe he had vocal strain at yours? i was really surprised because he did the deep gravel screaming and that's when it had SUPER clarity. no strain at all.

i wish i would have known you wanted a poster - i could have snagged you one. they had a really cool holographic skeleton one.
possibly. he's had covid once or twice and he's obviously had more time to recover by now. they also didn't play a lot of their big yelling songs other than the grudge for us. the yell at the end of that was the one he skipped. it's like 25 seconds long so it felt like there was a bit of a gap there. was honestly just happy they played that one at all though, it's one of my favorites.

he also replaced some of the darker lyrics in opiate. dude loves some spicy chicken.

Yeah, not every night on tour is equal. Sometimes your voice isn't 100%
They were selling a backpack for $500 tho

derr

but the yelling is a bit iconic for them and i'd been hearing from a lot of other fans that he just doesn't do it very much anymore live so that's what i go by. it was an amazing show either way.

You didn't mention this part so all i went by was your account and jen's. And I'm not a tool fan at all so I don't know what maynard sounds like live night in and night out
i guess the guy is from phoenix and he also has a winery here
Russell Mael from Sparks is one of the most animated performers I've seen and he's nearing his mid 70s if he's not already there

Some of the best drummers in the world are in their 60s. Metal drummers too. That's why I hate when people make the age excuse for lars when he's always been ass anyway

this guy was CRAZY on drums. my dad is/was a drummer (i say is/was because he's disabled and can't play but i feel like always a drummer at heart for him) so i always pay attention to them because that's just the instrument i love and was exposed to from my dad and brothers also trying to play.

this guy has double bass kick drums AND a third bass drum that he hits with a mallet. and he can drum so fast it's insane

i just saw the misfits last july and they're in their 70s. they were AWESOME and so energetic even though it was like 120F and an outdoor venue. it was a great show.

Yeah, I'm a drummer as well so it's 90% of what I pay attention to live lol. But yeah, I'm not a tool fan, but as a drummer I have huge respect for Danny Carey
he did a gong number which i have seen before when i saw The Police back in the early 2000s. that drummer is also fucking nasty
if you like drummers my dad was really impressed by the drummer from streetlight manifesto when i had him listen to some of their songs. his name is chris thatcher.

This is a guy I've been following. As much as I like the rock/jazz/prog guys for dynamics and chops, I'm really into the fast metal stuff for technique pushed to its extreme
yeah i hate metal but some of those drummers are absolutely insane
I love these observations from a non-fan, I love the objective perspective.

Fit old guys, woo!
