I will never use the C button on the Nintendo Switch 2
Fuck the switch and every console that's born from it.
whyGive me a little while, I'm writing an essay about it on Google docs and I'm going to link it to anyone who asks me this question. But, in short, it's the fact that game save data is stored on the console and not the SD card or game cartridge, so if your console ever breaks or gets stolen you're SOL. Cloud saves are unreliable, not all games support them, and they can still delete them at any time. Didn't have to worry about any of that shit or paying for internet with the DS. The switch is a downgrade and it's only purpose is to leech money from people. I'd rather get a steam deck and emulate games.

PS5 also saves save data to the console's hard drive.Which is also dumb because if the console breaks you're data is still gone. imo all consoles should at least give you the option of also saving backup on a memory card, and really I don't see why game companies don't do this when it's an opportunity for them to make even more revenue selling memory/sd cards or backup drives. The PS5 isn't as bad as the switch, though, because the PS5 isn't a handheld console and thus has less of a chance of breaking. Plus, it's easier to get the PS5 repaired and the hardware that saves your game data is more sturdy than what's in the switch. Meanwhile getting the switch repaired and trying to recover data from it is a nightmare. And it's not like the switch was very well built to begin with and had a low chabce of breaking. Remember the joycon drift? The errors? The update that fucked up people's data? Saving game data solely on the console with no option for external storage is bad enough, but doing that with a handheld was such a braindead move.

While I'm at it, I think consoles that only allow download games instead of physical copies are also trash, so comparing the switch to the ps5 is like comparing cat shit and dog shit to me.
A few years ago I played an old N64 version of Banjo Kazooie, but the save battery died halfway through and I lost my save. I just started over (on a different version), it sucks but it's really not that big of a deal tbh...but doooooood things were SO much better then omg you're LYING! and if I lose my save WTF that's my goddamn property I'll defend it with MY LIFE.
