That's news to me. I've always been able to view PDFs without a problem at all in my browser. To the point that I forgot the format is an Adobe property.
This is related to the earlier comments about how once you are tainted with Acrobat Pro it clings to everything.
The context for this was that pathetic bank check scanner. We ditched that bank (thank goodness) but their antiquated check scanner software required IE mode and without being signed into Acrobat Pro the website would not function, because Adobe aggressively takes over PDF display in browsers and that includes Acrobat Pro integration. But if you aren't signed in with a license, it doesn't just function like reader. It just outright refuses to work at all.
I'm just in awe how bad their pathetic DRM is too. Like every now and then when clicking to organize pages in a PDF, it will randomly decide "that feature isn't included in your license" and I need to restart it. Such garbage greed. The idea that it's possible for certain features to be locked behind perpetual payments is nauseating. As per usual, pirates get a superior experience I'd imagine when aggressive DRM is involved.
