Household wise, my parents were actually pretty cool and liberal about it. The community I lived in however was incredibly religious. I remembered when I told the news to my parents that I was an atheist, they didn't care as much and respected my choice. However, when I told my group of friends that I was an atheist, I was constantly glared at by the older people (and even one point, some crazy lady try to exorcise the atheism out of me lol). The older people kept on trying to convert me back that I got annoyed, which played a small role why I moved to SoCal (the main reason for it was because of the weather and job opportunities).
