Completely silent except for short responses to things I can't exactly just stay silent about, like direct questions. When people try to talk to me I feel like I'm being interrogated by the police and I keep my mouth shut so as not to say something damning.

If she's REALLY hot, I actually get more confident and feel much more of a drive to participate in conversation, but I can't ever take it beyond small talk because I don't know how, with anyone in fact.

I immediately recognize i'm not in her league and that there are smarter, better looking, funnier manly men out there than me that she'd go for instead.

With all of that, there's no pressure on me to impress her, and I calmly have a nice conversation without hidden agendas :)
