I just played them for the story and that was it. B&W and B&W 2 had a pretty good plot that I enjoyed. X&Y was straight up garbage and was disappointed so I stopped playing pokemon after that.

Definitely childish. There's a lot they could do with the writing to bridge the gap in making it more appealing to adults while still being suitable for toddlers, but they refuse to do it.
