I would say by the time you get to your late 20s you should probably stop getting blackout drunk.

I can say it's only happened to me a handful of times, and I can drink quite a bit. I'm not sure how some people can constantly get "black out" drunk. Sure, there's times where I wake up and some moments or details from the night before can be a little fuzzy, but it's very rare I forget basically everything.
