I like all of them as long as they're done well.

A well done linear game is better than a poorly/mediocrely done open world game.
A well done open world game is better than a poorly/mediocrely done linear game.

I really don't think I have a preference. >_>

Problem with open world games is they have to pad it with lots of side quests.
