I've always been more interested in the story missions, and while I do side missions and a ton of driving around randomly in GTA, giving us tons of microtransactions, online lobbies and having to deal with an online community to just do races with no context etc. it really killed my enthusiasm. When I briefly tried it there was half dead cities, a few griefers making races with a million laps to get everyone to drop out, and repetions of the same generic kill x people at x place and oh one got in a car, and he escaped to the other side of the map but the event isn't ending because this is an online mode. People have been talking about more elaborate heists and such, but I honestly can't bring myself to care. If they at least had some sort of story mode in the online that would be one thing, like WOW has for example, but I don't just want a forever sandbox, I'm more interested in one curated finite single player experience.

Shame one of the more fun series out there isn't interested in it any more.

It just rang of them trying to get a few more dollars out of Red Dead Redemption. They knew they weren't going to supplant GTA Online, because there's only so many interesting things you can do with horses and guns.
Face it Cloud is a gaming icon and has appered in lots of games while mario has only appeared in 2 games sunshine and 64 ~xSlashbomBx

Red Dead definitely isnt an online game. The main story is great and well written. It goes straight into the events of RDR1 and nothing in the main game drives you to online play. I think its more set up for a side story DLC with Sadie or Charles than GTA V is set up for anyone.

Personally i dont get the hate for GTA V not getting single player DLC. The story was fine and ended fine IMO. The main characters were ok but not some unforgettable classics. So i've always been good at where it ended. I personally dont like the idea of play to win for it but they give out free DLC and keep the community flowing with new content.
If idiots wanna keep paying for 100 dollar shark cards then thats on them

But it still offers a massive, expansive quality single player experience that is larger than probably 80% of most single player only games that people don't complain about. That's what I don't understand about these arguments. People play Resident Evil, rebuy the remasters, which can be beaten in 10 hours or under easily. You can put 50+ hours into GTAV or 100+ easy in either Red Dead single player and it's always "how dare they ruin it with online"

You pay the same price for both games, and they go on sale a lot also. You get a hell of a lot more of a single player experience with these games over so many others that are widely praised. This argument just gets stale after it's been posted hundreds of times.

I agree. I have no problem with GTA V itself, Im just unsure if they want to make more single player games? If they bring out some more single player heavy gta in the future, Ill stand corrected, Im simply saying if online is the future of the franchise, I wish them well but Im done.

No kidding. That first Saturday I had a migrane after running into bullshit all day because someone thought forcing everyone together into lobbies with auto-aim was a great fucking idea. Haven't played it since.

But Red Dead Redemption 2 has a ton of shit to explore and discover from what I've read (have only played a few hours of it myself).

I do think GTA 5 is a little simple in the singleplayer once you complete the story content. Unless you like minisubbing around for nuclear waste over a four hour time frame >_>

My biggest complaint is that they added big things to GTA Online that aren't accessible in single player like the Casino. Why the fuck can't I access the Casino in single player? Also the new shopping mall I'm assume will be online only as well. There is zero reason for those not being available in single player other than R* simply doesn't give a shit about GTA players who don't play online.

Yeah but that doesn't have as much to do with the online portion as it does them just trying to make it more real I think.

I read a lot about shaving and stuff beforehand and was expecting to waste a lot of time doing secondary BS like that and it really didn't turn out that way >_>. idk.

Really curious to know what you mean when you say Red Dead 2 is the same shit.

These guys are putting out quadruple A games for the same price as any other. Guess what happened after GTA Online made bank? We got the absolutely sublime single player experience of Red Dead 2.

Theyre still making single player games, theyre just putting a lot more time and attention in them.

Ouch. I thought a lot of the GTA IV dlc was really good usage of the assets to basically make two more smaller GTA games.
