Lots of big changes coming for the new game in November. I'm just hoping the optimization is good with the new engine and they can keep cheaters to a minimum.

No, because I don't like battle royale games and Activision's higher focus on Warzone has had a detrimental effect on the core 6v6 multiplayer experience that was the reason why I played the mainline CoD games.

I think im pretty much over BRs. So nope, I will probably check out the standard mwII mp tho.
Minimal, yet feature rich.

Damn, this sums up my thoughts on it pretty well. It's a rough time to be a multi-player only CoD fan (Zombies isn't fairing any better either). As long as the skin bundles keep making Activision money they're gonna keep focusing on Warzone

Nope, but I am excited for Modern Warfare II.

I was having tons of fun with warzone on the old map. I was playing duos with a friend damn near every night.

New map came out, we both had it dropped by a month. It's awful.

I'm a little worried about the new map -- part of the problem with Caldera was how much of a fucking pain it was to get from point to point. The issue was having the giant peak right in the middle of the map. This meant that unless you were going parallel to the peak, you would likely be driving uphill. And because there were so few roads, you were easy pickings. But on the flipside, going offroad was damn near impossible due to the shitty handling of the vehicles, the driving uphill, and the loads of rocks/trees/stump obstacles that would bring you to a complete stop just for clipping them.

Judging by the screenshot of the map in the article, it looks like this "observatory" is just a second peak, which will lead to the same problem.

Flip side is, at least it seems to be desert, so hopefully there aren't too many obstacles just for trying to go offroad.

Besides that, I'm cautiously optimistic.

It sounds like they have improved the vehicle engine a fair amount as well, so with any luck actually driving in the variety of new vehicles won't feel so annoying.

Have they said if it is launching with MW 2 or will it be later?

Black Ops Cold War had solid multiplayer and brought in a whole new wave of Zombies players (myself included, I had barely played Zombies before but got really into it with BOCW) and then Vanguard went and completely squandered all of that momentum. Now it looks like Modern Warfare Roman Numeral Two 2022 Electric Boogaloo: It's Doorbin' Time is going to make most of the same mistakes that its 2019 predecessor made in terms of multiplayer (plus Warzone 2 is dropping only a couple of weeks after launch so the multiplayer will probably die quick anyways) and we might not get any more Zombies content until the next Treyarch game in 2024.

I actually really like what the game is doing with the gunsmith and the different "weapon trees", but everything else you mentioned there, I agree with. Infinity Ward always nails the visual stuff (graphics, animations, etc.) and the customization options, but it doesn't matter when the core game design does so much to punish players who want to play aggressively and instead promotes slow, dull, campy gameplay.

I want to suplex Joe Cecot into a pile of busted M4 receivers lying on the ground in the gunsmith.

Honestly the verdansk vehicles weren't that bad, but the caldera ones were fucking horrible

Which, I guess was by design to be more with the time that map was set in, but it was a huge hinderance to gameplay.

The only bad change is not letting you start a game with ghost

MW19's increased footstep volume and especially the radar change were incredible when you got used to it, you were actually able to use attachments other than a suppressor for once

Hell fucking no. Both of those factors were major contributors to the game being a slow, dull, boring, campy pile of shit.

The "tactical" players (AKA campers) would just sit in corners with their headsets cranked to maximum volume listening for footsteps, and the people who actually wanted to play aggressively were punished for that play style. Dead Silence being a temporary field upgrade that needed charging and not an always active perk made the situation even worse. Then you throw in the large porous maps with tons of places to hide, Ghost working even without requiring you to move around, the mounting feature incentivizing staying in one spot, the fast time-to-kill incentivizing pre-aiming and waiting for people to come to you since they'll just die before they can even react... there's no denying that the game was built from the ground up to benefit campers and punish aggressive players, and I absolutely hated it for that. That's not what Call Of Duty is to me.
