I rewatched seasons 1-3 and loved them. Even season 4 I really enjoyed.

...What the fuck happened this season? I am like halfway through 5 now and it doesn't even feel like the same show.

Nah, the "time jump" seasons are low key horrible. I couldn't even get past the second episode.

The original seasons are gold

4 and 5 are brutal. just unwatchable

i finished 1-3 last night right in time for them to be purged from netflix forever

1-3 is the only real shit. Even then they were kinda losing steam in S3.

Fact is other shows did what AD wanted to do. And thats mostly because of how shit Fox is. Look at a show like it's always sunny and the amount of shit they were able to get away with just by being on a different non cable network. Also doesn't help that a few of the actors became A listers while the show was on.

I actually liked some of s4 when I watched it 10 years and only cringed at some bits here and there. But it hasnt been great on any attempted rewatches. I tried going through the remix version but it's somehow worse, feels longer somehow

But s5... hoo boy. I watched that entire trainwreck and the entire time my face was like Michael's when his son was explaining a mayon-egg. Entire time I was wondering why they even bothered making this. Still remembered laughing at one scene they were able to get with Portia as Lindsey that had green screen so bad it was like watching random youtuber green screens

i still have a ton of respect for AD because it's one of those rare shows where seasons 1-3 were so absolutely ungodly elite and peak comedy that the inception of 4 and 5 didn't sour 1-3.

so many shows like HIMYM season 9 completely dampen the mood of the first 8 seasons.

with AD, i can watch 1-3, appreciate and love it for all it is, and then stop because the story was complete.

same with scrubs season 9. i just stop after book of love.

HIMYM you cant just stop because the story isnt done

Four got a lot better when they rereleased it and edited the order in the episodes

still not great, but watchable

season five was hot garbage

Weird to me how many people disliked 4.

I really enjoyed the layered story telling, it kept things interesting and had some fun twists. Also likes how every episode just focused on one character, tons of funny bits or at least funny concepts.

Season 5 just nothing. It doesn't have any of those moments where things just fall apart in a glorious way. It is nothing but talking with very few jokes, and the camera really just spends all it's time in a few rooms.
