Makes sense, especially given that they're gutting ad blockers on chromium as well. I guess they finally hit that critical mass where they believe they can pull back the curtain on ads and nobody will be able to compete with them as an alternative.

Probably not.

Best bet would be to have a script that runs that sends a message to the server saying ad has finished playing. They have stuff like that for the "continue watching" pop up but this is slightly more difficult.

I completely quit using Twitch years ago because of this, and I used to be an avid user too. They would always find a way to take down the latest Twitch Adblock extension, and it just got too tiring to find the latest one that worked only for it to not work a couple days later.

If YouTube goes that route then Ill probably be done with it too.

i really enjoy going to youtube to find music videos for shit i already enjoy. i guess that's all i use it for now... so it wouldn't kill me to stop using it entirely. there are music videos on apple music anyways but artists rarely post them to the platform for some reason.

Make them safe, reasonably lengthed relative to videos and not overly intrusive and maybe we will tolerate the ads.

Also never air GOP ads. Fuckin facist shit.

I'm curious if they will consider ads effectively blocked in chromium browsers a win. Virtually every browser nowadays is chromium besides Firefox and Safari. Every other non-chronomium browser has a very small amount of users.
