So I'm brand new to this thread - two questions
A) Why did you bring up conceal carry and millions of guns already on the street?
B) Which post had a suggestion that "solves the issue"?
A) Many initial arguments were that the right to carry as it currently stands and access to guns are what caused this. I agree that we should limit access to guns but I was pointing out what I see as flaws in that argument. Even if we limited ability to carry people can still hide(conceal) their weapons. Even if we outright banned anyone from buying another gun there are still hundreds of millions of guns out there.
Not along ago we couldnt get half the country to simply wear a mask. Now we are suggesting because of the law they will give up their protection that they deem essential? I just dont see it. The same study that estimated 450 million guns produced since 1899 found 44% of gun owners to be Republican and around 20% to be Democrat. These are people that wear come and take out guns merch. They wont give them up so why would we effectively disarm ourselves against them? I lean heavily towards Democrat but you wouldnt walk into a lions den without a gun so why are we suggesting that? You may stop a handful of scenarios like this get allow more scenarios like the 23 Latinos shot by some crazy racist fuck.
Last Im on mobile so I dont want to go through all the posts. Nobody outright said their idea would solve the issue but the way people came down on Gleason, to me, it was implied. I assumed people would not throw stones from glass houses but thats just my opinion. I didnt present a rock solid argument either so its all good.
Ill say I apologize for being hostile recently. I just really dont like the way a lot of discussion takes place on here. From now on I just will not engage with the negativity. Appreciate you keeping the question civil.
