I haven't watched it yet and honestly don't plan to any time soon. But I'm curious why it's so hated by critics and audiences alike. That's quite an accomplishment. Did it do something controversial or was it just that boring? >_>

Spoil away, I don't care.

Bad, boring dialogue. Plot that doesnt hold up to scrutiny and is also boring. They could have done so much more with the premise of skrulls infiltrating human society.

It has a few plot points that kind of retroactively fuck with the existing movies / continuity. For example: Rhodey has been a skrull since Civil War and the real Rhodey is in cryo and has missed all the events since.

Tripped hard at the finish line. Might not have stung that much in a bubble, but the MCU is starting to be victimized by its own success / standards: a weak ending, lack of cameos / crossover, or lame one-line excuse about why no one's bothered to call the Avengers for help would've flown a lot better prior to Infinity War / Endgame, but feels especially lazy nowadays.

Plus it got hyped in the beginning as being the MCU's Andor and / or Winter Soldier 2.0 in terms of being a gritty, mature show, so the eventual disappointment was that much stronger.
Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read.
it was just fairly boring. Its definitely well made and acted. But just nothing ever grabs you as it meanders through its plot.

Then the final episode hits and when it needed to tie the plot together and flip it on its head.

instead it basically ruins every character and plot it can get its hands on

Although if youre going to watch it Olivia Coleman almost saves the show. She doesnt in the end since its unsalvageable, but shes unanimously loved

Was this confirmed? only frame of reference I caught for how long Rhodey was in cryo was "a long time". Nothing that to me indicated a specific event

Explicitly confirmed by the showrunners. FYI: they confirmed that Rhodey being unable to walk but also not having the leg braces tells you when he was taken. Apparently Marvel also dictated that he needs to be unable to walk at the end of the series to tie into Armor Wars.

I wouldn't say worst, since I did enjoy it as it was building up, but then it kind of shit the bed.

It kind of threw away Talos for no reason. The trailer made it seem like this was gonna be some big Fury/Talos/Ross/Rhodey thing, but it was mostly Fury. Rhodey was great though.

The final battle also has both a pretty horrible premise and horrible CGI. That part where G'iah does Drax's arm was extremely cringy. Also, with the F4 right around the corner, I'm not sure why they went with some bargain bin Super Skrull, and then upgraded them to the point that they had the powers of almost every fucking Avenger and villain involved in the Endgame battle.

Not confirmed in any way tbh.

Also, I should add that Carol was definitely needed in this. After watching Captain Marvel again last night, she was very much part of the Skrull issue.
Nani?!?
It doesnt matter what the showrunner says. I doubt Marvel goes along with his idea.

The secret invasion director in a later interview confirms when it happened:
https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/secret-invasoon-director-how-long-is-rhodey-a-skrull-interview/
"A lot of people have asked about, 'Definitively, when did Rhodey...?'" Secret Invasion director Ali Selim said in an exclusive interview with ComicBook.com. "I think his legs not working in the end of episode six and him being in the hospital gown points to [ Captain America: Civil War ]. And, from there, does it have to be definitive, or is it more fun for the audience to go back and revisit every moment, every Rhodey moment and look at it with a different lens now that they think, 'Oh, he might've been a Skrull there.' And make the decision for themselves, or it'll be answered in Armor Wars ."

The only ambiguity remaining, which is itself used as a tease for a future project, is whether this is true for literally every scene or only some of the scenes, but either way it's confirmed canon at least some of the past movies.

Rhodey being a skrull since Civil War is such an absolutely horseshit idea that I outright reject it. Also, pretty sure all those people rescued were in a highly irradiated area if that Geiger counter earlier in the episode is any indication, so enjoy the slow death of radiation poisoning guys.

None of this means anything. You clearly see Rhodey bleeding in Endgame with red blood and could have almost died when he couldn't use his legs, when no one was looking. He's also in Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and that is probably the only place where it's the Skrull.
Nani?!?
i dunno man, i only watched 4 episodes and it feels like a boring generic spy show.

i figured this could be interesting since it has Nick Fury and Skrulls but apparently i was wrong...
The MCU is just a mess. Should have ended after EndGame.
Trucking Legend Don Schneider!
It being a Skrull instead of Rhodey when Tony died bothers me for some reason.
I used the knife. I saved a child. I won a war. God forgive me.
Definitely the most boring and mediocre MCU content thus far. Out of all the movies and TV shows, this one was the most lackluster. There were some interesting things about the show, but when you were expecting something amazing to happen, it never happened. There should have been more tension and suspense and paranoia considering the material its based off of. Instead it was a borefest.
I wonder why they didnt give the Rhodey twist to Sharon Carter.
Hey now.
Idk I watched 2 or 3 episodes and it's just kinda boring. Sam Jackson is getting too old for the role and just seems tired and bored in all of his scenes.
The Legend is True!
The comic Secret Invasion wasn't great. The central idea of "anyone could be a Skrull, trust no one" is inherently good and the comics absolutely under served it. But it made up for it with a lot of raw spectacle. You had all your favorite heroes fighting hoards of skrulls with a bunch of variety of powers.

Now for a bunch of budget and scheduling reasons we were never going to get spectacle of the comics so they really needed to nail the skrulls in disguise aspect. And I thought making the story into a spy drama would be a really good way to bring the most out if that concept...but they ultimately just flubbed it. There was no mystery, no suspense. You had a show focused on Marvel's premier spy man and it never felt particularly competent.

Just finished the series and thought it was pretty entertaining. I went in expecting it to be a bit of a slow burn and campy. Knew it wasn't gonna be action filled, knew it was gonna be about some behind the scene operation kinda thing, knew no major Avengers was gonna come in and also knew Fury was gonna survive because he's in The Marvels' trailer.

I think a lot of yall went into this expecting too much.

This, and most of the decisions made, especially in the finale, are mind bogglingly stupid.

Why

It wasnt good, but its the best of the MCU shows Ive seen.
I don't really know if it's that much worse than the other shows. It's just that the finale was horrendous and kinda ruined the entire show.

The main problem is it's indicative of a lot of the MCU's recent missteps, probably moreso than any series before it.
I have nothing else to say
Isnt the whole premise of the show accushuly, iz krull ? Sounds lame
A lot of reasons.

It took a great storyline in the comics and fumbled the bag hard.

A show about shape shifting aliens. Using the spy characters from marvel. It didnt tell a paranoid espionage thriller story. It didnt do anything interesting with the idea that characters we know could have been Skrull the whole time. There wasnt one single reveal that was interesting.

Yeah.

When you compare this to something like The Winter Soldier, it feels really basic and simplified. With the Winter Soldier, we didn't even know who the main villain was until like halfway through the movie. And even then, he turns out to be part of a larger conspiracy that doesn't get revealed until after that. And potential allies are only slowly revealed as the movie goes on. And beyond that, there's the twist with Bucky (granted it's only a twist if you don't know the character)

Meanwhile, Secret Invasion just straight up tells us who the villain is, what he wants to do and how he plans on going about doing it in the first episode. Outside of Skrull!Rhodey, there's shockingly little surprises or twists.

I don't understand how that isn't an amazing premise.

I haven't gotten around to watching past the first episode yet. Concerning the 'big' spoiler shown in this topic... Does the show make you care?

I understand Rhodey is(was?) very influential in the military, but he is wildly uninteresting as a character in the MCU. I can't even think off the cuff of anything he's really done
Cookin like a chef, I'm a 5 Star Michelin
BTW, I really thought this would be the show to reveal that Agent 13/The Power Broker was a Skrull. I know it would have been too obvious, but it also has some very interesting implications.

In fact, it almost would have been better if she was just the main villain instead of Gravik. Hell, the Power Broker's whole thing with the Super Soldier serum could even work nicely with the Super Skrull plot line. Hell, what if she's been a Skrull since Civil War and the reason she pushed Captain America to fight the Accords was to break up the Avengers and leave Earth even further weakened? It feels like a massive missed opportunity.

I have nothing else to say

No. He has like 1 really good scene, then is just completely unlikable afterwards. The only reason anyone is even talking about him is because the timing isn't super clear.

That's what you would think the show is about, and it is a great premise for a super hero spy thriller. But they actually don't do shit with it, there is really no mystery or paranoia on who has been compromised. Just all very boring and nothing really happens.
Hello world!
to be blunt secret invasion was never going to work in the MCU as it dont fit the MCU skrulls

Sadly, I think it's pretty clear at this point that the more Sam Jackson's Nick Fury is in the spotlight, the less cool and interesting he becomes. His best work over the last five years worth of movies turned out to be Talos imitating him, lol .

It doesn't help that Waller also exists and does the "I'm a regular person in charge of super powered beings and I boss them around fearlessly" thing but better.

Unless theres anything else to suggest it. I think the only

Talos Fury we ever truly see is in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Right, that's what I was referring to.

Although I guess it was kinda cool that he almost got to say 'motherfucker' in an MCU movie. Incidentally it's doubly hilarious that Secret Invasion cut back to that moment and tried to sell it as dramatic PTSD or something.
