I have a 2TB seagate portable drive that's about 8 years old, it's having problems with erasing new files lately and i'm getting nervous.

Probably 5-10 TB would be good, longevity is important to me but idk if there's any brands particularly known for that.

Do you care if it's sequential or did you want something more normal?

Sequential (tape drives) means you can only back up & restore the whole thing.

If you just want extra storage for shit like videos that's not really what I'd consider a backup system but if that's what you meant I'd recommend using a NAS with an sftp server so you can upload videos as soon as you make them. There's 2 kinds of NAS. Enclosures that you have to stock with your own disks or plug & play that already have the storage built in.
