Dude I know the pain. I saw a stray in front of a Lil Ceasars a few weeks ago when I was on the border. She was so stressed from the heat. I gave her water, but I couldn't take her while I was working. I felt so bad I decided to go back and try to save her damn the consequences, but she was already dead by the time I got back. That's so horrible and I'm sorry that you had to go through that.
Ripped me up.

But I think by the time you first found her it was already too late. A lot of times, even with an IV drip of fluids, and medication, when you're too far gone nothing can help. You probably gave her a little comfort and aid in her final hours though. Which is more than anyone else who passed by that day can say.

Real talk, beyond leaving food for it, there's not much you can do. Sure you can take it in and hope it gets along with whatever pet you already have. But there's always more strays. People are irresponsible and now there's countless stray dogs and cats in the streets. Only take it a stray if you feel confident you have the room.I have my own place fairly close by where cornman stays a lot of the time. I have been wanting a cat for a while, but I frankly have trouble taking care of myself consistently due to physical disability/ depression. I wouldn't want that to negatively impact a pet if I take them in. Like I dont think it'll go unfed or anything but im not sure I'd be consistently able to clean up after it.

The main problem you'd have is hygiene, cats will just go on the floor if the litter box isn't clean or it's somewhere that isn't accessible. I have two litter boxes out to make sure they have the option but consistent cleaning is still important. I think there are some brands of litter that are easier to clean up. Don't get me wrong though, it's still going to be tough on your body. I have depression and don't take care of myself, cleaning the litter box is always a task because I'm out of shape.

When I was really young we came across a kitten in the middle of the busy street out front of a Little Caesars. No idea how it got there and it was very fortunate is wasn't roadkilled. We saved it and adopted it, named him Caesar.Thank you for the happier cat story, I was starting to feel bad about all the cats
