I'm kind of feeling playing through it again. I basically remember the first hour, wind scene, something about running in circles to unlock magic, and that magnus is unlockable.

Should I play through CT?

It's an incredible game with a great story. Definitely give it a full play through.

I played through a nice bit of it, but just fell off of it. It didn't really hook me, but maybe I'll try it again some day. I already have a bad back log.

I think it still holds up as one of the goat jrpgs, but it was also the first one I ever played not long after its release, so it's hard to think around my bias. It was made by the dream team, after all. Seeing all 11? endings is fairly easy with NG+ and the music is unparalleled.

Check out Sea of Stars if you want a modernized homage and lots of direct and indirect nods to CT. Music by the same guy too, and you can def hear leitmotifs and ideas from CT get referenced.

Maybe I'll give CT a go closer to the holidays. I might end up with a new job soon, if I do I should do a playthrough between jobs.

both, DS remake is just a simple port with some extra bells and whistles

Depends if you try to get every ending or if you want a "Perfect" save file i.e. 7 amulets so everyone can have an amulet.
