Out of all of these, I think it's hard decision between Picard and Janeway for me.

Archer felt the most human to me, followed by Pike.

There is only one Captain of the Enterprise which is the main man himself the one and only James Tiberius Kirk.

Runner up for best Captain Captain Kathryn Janeway.

Ben Sisko

Dealt with the most threats, handled the most critical diplomatic matters in his dealings with both enemy and ally in major front line affairs, basically won a war, and by far had the most responsibilities of any of the captains as he was more or less a commodore by the end of things.
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.
Picard by a mile.

Kirk was a goodball and the others didn't match Picard's authority or mental strength.

Sisko had some great moments but was boring as hell and ridiclous at times.
Janeway was inconsistent
Archer was ok but that's about it. Probably the most unremarkable captain both positively and negatively.
lol Pike

I can see the battle between who's the better captain between Kirk and Picard is as even as it ever has.

Its Kirk, by the by.

I used to think it's Picard, but nowadays I lean Kirk. He's weirdly underrated. He's not a space cowboy, he uses diplomacy and science whenever possible and generally uses violence as a last resort.

I don't agree with this at all.

I feel like this is a take of memories from the best episodes after the fact (Plus Kirk's unwillingess to kill)

When I think of kirk what springs to mind is shit like go to a planet to steal its materials, find out the planet ruler (who is iffy about them stealing his shit) has a robot daughter, Kirk tries to the fuck the Robot daughter against her fathers wishes, resulting in Kirk and the father literally fighting

Then the robot's head explodes out of not being sure who to be loyal to, Kirk or her father.

And Kirk is like "opps, killed your daughter, lol, Taking your shit. BYEEEE!" and fucks off. Never mentioning it again.

Also that alien? Was pretty much every great man in human history. Something Kirk doesn't care about.

Imagine how Sisko or Janeway or Archer would handle that same situation. Let alone Picard.

Kirk does shit like that all the time. He's a complete goofball and totally innappropiate to be captain.

Only question I, ever thought was hard
Was do I like Kirk, or do I like Picard?

The thing that made Kirk work was the Spock duo dynamic. As a standalone character, Picard was better.

I never understood the joke that he's aggressive and gung ho and fucks a lot of alien women. Picard was more reckless than Kirk was.
...I think I'm done here...
Why isnt Georgiou listed? Or Lorca?

Both highly effective main character captains. Both better than Burnham at the very least (and leagues better than Saru)

Tossup between Picard and Pike for upright morality.

Sisko takes it for general badassery.
Only two things can end a Republican's career - a dead girl or a live boy.
For me it's Sisko for his general awesomeness and then Kirk for his belief that he can win in any scenario.

Toss up between Picard and Sisko, both flawed, but very strong captains that you could understand when they made more radical choices.

Janeway was awful, the writing really fucked her over.

Well the results of this poll is certainly unexpected!

Picard???!!!!! You what???!!!

Picard was a terrible Captain. There he was in charge of the most powerful ships in the fleet yet he would much rather bore the enemy of the week and the viewers to death with his crap speeches than use the weapons of The Enterprise!

A Starship needs no nonsense men and women in charge! Captains like Kirk, Riker and Janeway not a do nothing Captain like Picard.

I will never forgive the creators of TNG for missing the golden opportunity they had in The Best Of Both Worlds and killing off Picard and putting Riker in command of The Enterprise.

Yeah Riker is kinda shit.

It bugs me a little that Best of Both Worlds lampshades that he needs to shit or get off the pot and then they never mention it again while he stagnates on the Enterprise

Someone who thinks Picard is the best Captain and rubbishes God er I mean Captain James Tiberius Kirk opinions mean nothing to me.

You know the Federation really missed a trick during the Dominion War and that was putting Picard in the front line. They should have shown him to the Female Changeling, got him to do one of his utterly boring long winded speeches and the Jem Hadar would have been high tailing it back to The Gamma Quadrant in two seconds flat.

Only one Captain in that list had the bottle to punch Q, therefore the answer is obvious.

The Sisko, and his tough little ship the USS Ben Sisko's Mother****ing pimp hand.

Let me guess you are talking about the utterly pathetic USS Defiant NX-74205 right?

The ship that was designed to fight the Borg, Got it's chance in First Contact and The Borg proceeded to hand it's sorry ass to it on a silver platter and it had to be bailed out by The Enterprise! You mean that "tough little ship"?

One of my favourite scenes in DS9:

The destruction of that utterly pathetic ship.

And I am not even Joking about this . Spoilers for Picard season 3. Going back for his son cost the lives of a ton of people. Sisko left his son on a space station that got over run. And he said he made his choice. He is a man. I honestly don't know how people can rock with Picard after that.

Sisko for being an all-rounder. A fighter, a lover, a diplomat, a cynic(the real kind), a father, a friend, he knew when to retreat, when to talk, when to dance with the devil in the pale moonlight, and when to attack.

He might not have been the best at any one thing, but he did everything well.
