Colored pencils if they're not artists already

Markers if they are. But like high quality drawing markers if you're gonna do that.

Not for a while, but I have some coloring books among other stuff:

Markers aren't too bad, though I'll just use what I have.

My lady and I went to some retreat and she* signed us up for a "coloring class". They used coloring pencils. I think crayons would have worked better, but it was probably a cost thing. Was kind of hard to get in the right mindset at first, you really do have to relax a bit.

I don't use colouring books but I do mixed media art, I'd say coloured pencils are best, markers will likely tear up the paper if they're water based, or bleed right through if they're alcohol based, depending on the paper in the books - crayons aren't my thing but I imagine they can leave a waxy texture, rather than a nice smooth finish like with pencils
Drink up me hearties, yo ho
