Yeah, because that means you're not blocking their ads in the first place.

Don't worry, we have 30-60 years before it gets that bad.

I'm nearly sold out of my "Air Pro", but there is some still in stock. If you act now, I can sell you the rest for only $29.99/can.

There isn't anything unethical about youtube fighting them, and if they eventually completely eliminate their use, you will not have been slighted. They do not owe you anything.
Its unethical for them to slow down Firefox users just because they arent using Google chrome.

Ads are a proven vector of malware attacks. Theres no evidence it will never happen again. Therefore adblockers are cemented forever as basic cybersecurity

if Google will pay for all damages (and more importantly, sign a contract saying they will) from any cyberattack where their ads/ad network were a vector, that might be a suitable justification for not using an adblocker. Since their system is mostly automated, thats not something they can actually promise
This sounds like something illegal

but its only.. fuck outta here.

i make more than enough weekly/monthly
to pay for every media service and still have enough left over doesnt mean i have to.

i applaud anyone not bending to the will of corporate masters.

keep blocking ads and keep fighting the good fight. you cant stop the internet.

i used to think so, but idk if net neutrality and wanting to regulate social media are compatible beliefs

seo has done a good job of stopping the internet, ai was good for 4 months and is already being censored heavily

Why isn't youtube allowed to do that?

There shouldn't be more minutes of ads during a recorded stream than there are minutes on the stream.

That's why.

If some of you guys want even more of your brains to be colonized by ads, go ahead. I refuse. We get enough ads on TV, on the radio, in podcasts, just stepping outside, and WITHIN YouTube videos. I don't need ads on top of ads that are longer than and interrupt the actual videos at unpredictable intervals. We wouldn't put up with that in any other medium, yet we're expected to do so on YouTube and are expected to pay to avoid that.

There's too much ad saturation in this world already, they're toxic vampires that prey on our existing insecurities and actively create new ones. I do what I can to reduce that exposure for myself at least and it makes my life better. I'm not going to reward any company, government or entity for trying to insert more ads into our lives or asking us to pay for the privilege of avoiding them.
I gotta be righteous, I gotta be me, I gotta be conscious, I gotta be free, I gotta be able, I gotta attack, I gotta be stable, I gotta be black.
Until they begin paying me for my data, I'll be blocking their ads on firefox.

One of the more nefarious being things we considered cultural norms, but were influenced by ads in our parents' generation.

It used to be that if, say, a Girls Gone Wild commercial aired at 3pm instead of 3am, heads would roll and someone in government regulation would hold that station responsible. That was for an ad that did no damage to your device, no less.

But Google has somehow managed to avoid responsibility with a EULA for commercial content hosted on their platform?

Seems bullshit.

All I've ever heard for years is that YT doesn't make a net profit. Ever. But no one can ever afford to truly let it go because it's the go-to for basically everyone and it completely dominates the market.

Ad-free isn't the only reason I have YT Premium since I use YouTube Music extensively. Really sucks they're actively trying to make the experience worse for non-paid users though, and it could stand to be cheaper.
