Playing FF7 for the first time. Encountered Yuffie a couple times in the woods but she kept stealing my money and ran off. I kept trying to get her to reappear but she didn't, so I went into Junon not knowing that's where I was supposed to go and ended up doing a bunch of main story stuff, and now I'm docking at Costa del Sol.

Am I locked from the first continent for now and missed my chance to get Yuffie? Or can I go back and try to get Yuffie again?

You can go back by talking to an NPC at the dock of Casa Del Sol iirc. But Yuffie appears in other forests too.

What I loved most about recruiting Yuffie is that you need to show disinterest in her joining your party for her to not run away and steal your things. It took me a few encounters to realize what needed to be done. Gave me a good laugh.

Ah, yeah, I know she isn't missable like overall since she's a main character, but I'm just asking for right now did I fuck up. Like, there's no way to go back atm.

She also appears in a later forest and possibly at a higher encounter rate so you might be better off continuing idk.

She appears in the forest just outside Junon, so go back via the ship again, it should be accessible soon if it isnt already. Junon is also the best place to level up at that point in the game by a long shot in that place where you can set off the alarm.

You don't have to go back to get her, IIRC, she appears in other forest areas later at a higher encounter rate.

Ahh yes, I remember the old "Yuffie robs you while you're in the menu" gag.

I know for a fact that Yuffie can appear in the forest north of Gongaga by the mountains, where the Touch-me frogs are.
Every day I wake up and promise I will be nice to everyone, then I deal with people at work and remember why that will never happen.

She can appear in every forest in the game, with increasing rate the further into the game the forest is.

Though yes, I always go for her in that very first forest as well.
