could drop Kang entirely. Ugh.
I don't care about any of this crap just make Shang Chi 2
Remember when we just recast characters instead of erasing them from the story?

Man, as if the MCU couldn't get more turbulent. That dude really messed things up, didn't he?

I write Naruto Fanfiction. But I am definitely not a furry.
That would be a really stupid decision. They spent all this time building up Kang as the next big bad. Just recast him ffs

To be honest, Im pretty sure people were cold on Kang before the Jonathon Majors stuff. Seeing him get beat by a bunch of ants really hurt his image, even if part of the point is that he didnt have all his technology. Thanos failed before IW, but only through his intermediaries.
"Just recast him" doesn't work because people by and large just don't care about Kang

The Kang in Quantumania was not the actual Kang threat and that was made clear in the movie.
Also that post-credits scene in Quantamania did not help.

Sure, but it doesnt stop people from thinking he looked pathetic, even if, again, it was justified. Thanos had mystique, and showed up when he finally got in on the action, Kang lost hard, even if it was only one of many. Im just saying how general audiences take it.

Lol no they didn't. They spent 2 seasons of TV and a one off film in antman.

And most people don't watch the shows. No matter how popular they might be, the overall global audience mostly only watches the movies
Recasting won't help because nobody gives a shit about Kang and people consider him a joke after the supposedly most dangerous variant got beat by hyperintelligent ants and a giant Spy Kids tier CGI head. You're trying to salvage a plotline that's already in the gutter of interest.

Kang is a shit tier big bad. Move on to Secret Wars and Dr. Doom.

well i guess Dr. Doom about to become the next big bad baddie of the MCU now...
My only concern with changing course is that they allow enough time to come up with a good story for whoever the new villain is going to be, even if that means pushing the movie back. If what we get is essentially a Kang story that's been hastily reworked to try to make it a Dr. Doom story then it's probably going to suck.

They definitely did not introduce or hype the character well at all. Introducing the concept in a TV show and then introducing him in one of the low tier movies was not a great idea.

They waited too long to put out another Avengers. We don't need every crossover to be Thanos-tier threatening. That's not how the first few phases did things. Make the next Avengers movie villain Dr. Doom so he can act like this next phase's Loki in being the bad guy who occasionally has to work with the good guys, and THEN build up towards who would be threatening enough for Doom to suffer through working with Reed.

I could understand dropping characters in the previous Gen of movies. But with this multiversal stuff seems like it made it even easier to recast anyone. Just say they are a variant and recast.
Hey now.

I'd say it's pretty clear that they simply don't have faith in the ongoing Kang storyline at this point, considering that - like you said - this is an easy-mode recast from a narrative / continuity perspective.
Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read.

Maybe they could even bring back Terrence Howard and Edward Norton as variants of Rhodey and Bruce.

I'd skip doom for now, replace Kang with galactus and go from there. They've already introduced the eternals, and the various celestials, eternity, and so on, just throw in galactus and then build towards doom instead of rushing him.

If Secret Wars doesn't have Human Torch Chris Evans meeting Captain America Chris Evans I will be disappointed.
