Some guys get all the breaks, Some guys do nothing but complain
The only thing TikTok is doing wrong is the same thing literally every other social media company is doing, this one just happens to be Chinese-owned. If they actually cared about the issue, they'd pass laws that applied to all of them and not just single out TikTok.

Republicans want to ban it because of a combination of it being China related and mostly Zoomers using it that fucking hate Trump

It just needs better regulation and moderation, just as most social media plattforms.

If influencer/content creator have the reach, they should also be responsible like it.

It feels wrong that they can do whatever they want because they count like private persons with free speech, when they have a better medial reach than your average radio station that needs a licence and other legal stuff.

As long as it's not properly regulated and moderated, I'm okay with the ban. The same applies to any other social media platform. The way they are right now, they're more harmful then helpful for societies.

this. banning a specific product is not the way to go. ban the behaviors we don't accept and apply those rules to everything.

It's not. But the people who make the laws don't operate on reason, they operate on money.

It still needs to be regulated tho. That TikTok Kia/hyundai security breach challenge was borderline enabled criminal activity.

There is no way any type of social media could get away with that.

Funny, I see Fenriswolf make this kind of argument when the Times Square Massacre or the Uhgyr Genocide comes up assuming he doesn't try and roll to disbelieve reality.

If China doesn't want to use their own social media, its probably not a good place

Is it censorship? Seems they are banning it because of the way it operates, rather than the content. (Which can still be posted in a lot of other places).

Seems to be more of a protectionist move.
