Did anyone ever play the super obscure MMO Dark Ages? Not "Dark Ages of Camelot" just Dark Ages? It was pixel art Asian mmo I think

I beta tested it. It was made by the same Nexon team that made Nexus: Kingdom of the Winds. I liked the fact that reaching mastery in a class required a player who was already a master to act as a mentor. I... don't remember much about it beyond that though.

Technically ragnarok and maple story, first legit MMO was FF11 though.

Don't believe it was MMO, but PSO, and WKC after that. 2 great experiences in my gaming life. Still chasing for that same experience like Moby Dick. No luck.

My uncle's cousin was a concept artist for WoW (and later Wildstar), so I got to play the beta on his laptop at christmas the year before release. I made a night elf druid, fell in love with Teldrassil, and wandered around for like 2 hours and got to level 2 or 3, and then some time after vanilla released I played as much as my parents would let me. It was a pretty good time.
Look, I can name a few instances in MY life where I tried to reach mutual understanding
and i can TELL you, always faster and easier to just kill em. Just is!

It was Everquest in 1999. Played for a few weeks. Only one that I ever stuck to was FFXI.
Does the name Pavlov ring a bell?
Post #63 was unavailable or deleted.
It was FFXIV because my friend recommended it to me so much and play with her.
Was a good game with all the expansions and content it had.

After that it was PSO2 for me and like that one a lot more because of it's gameplay
EverQuest.

I had no idea what the fuck I was doing but I did manage to learn to speak Draconic at, like, level 5 or whatever.

Wasn't even necessary. In RO there was this item called "special branch" or something like that. You could use it anywhere and it would spawn a random monster. So people who wanted to troll could get a group together, walk into any place with 99 stacks of the item, and then just start spam-using it until you got lucky and spawned a dungeon boss (or a few), at which point folks would have to rally somewhere else and work together to kill them (until a GM appeared, but even they couldn't oneshot the monsters).

It looks like they eventually split the item into a few variants (non-boss, MVP, etc) and then limited its usage to specific rooms. Which makes sense as in classic RO branch spammers were an omnipresent threat.

I don't really count phantasy star online myself since that game was more of a smaller-scale 4 player party kind of thing. (PSO on the dreamcast actually is my first online game ever though).

My first MMO was that goofy-ass everquest online adventures game on the PS2, lol. This one:
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/6/6ba30185.jpg

After that, it was stuff on the PC like city of heroes (my 2nd), world of warcraft (my 3rd), and maple story. (Regrettably my 4th).

I have always wished I played final fantasy 11 on it's release though. I could never put together the money to buy that PS2 version that came with the HDD required to play it on the PS2. My PC at that time period also could not handle it. (I could barely play city of heroes on like the lowest settings at the time). By the time I got a xbox 360 to play phantasy star universe in august 2006, well, I was already playing phantasy star universe so I always figured it was a little late to just jump in with the xbox 360 version of final fantasy 11.

First MMO was EverQuest. I'm 90% sure I started playing or did a free month during either Kunark or Velious, and had a rough go of making my first characters on a PvP server. I switched to another server shortly after and kept making characters that didn't get past Level 12 or 14.

I stopped and came back in during Luclin and spent a lot of time with it, yet still never really progressed past 20/25. Only crossed 30 with Barbarian Rogue around the 9th expansion because I wanted to finish the Burning Knofe quest I paused years before.

Since then I've dabbled with Lord of the Rings Online, Atlantica Online, Puzzle Pirates, DC Universe Online, Realm of the Mad God. Project Gorgon, Phantasy Star Online, Remnants of Skystone, Dead Maze, and let's throw GunZ the Duel & Gunbound in there, too, for nostalgia's sake.

Runescape
I don't remember my first MMO. Either Ragnarok Online private server, FF11, Runescape or a weird korean MMO from like 2010.
I think it was Runescape. But I might have only booted it up once or twice. Then sometime later I played Maplestory. But that wasn't for long either. Haven't played any since.

Tales of Pirates Online.

Watched One Piece when it was Cartoon Network I think, so that's what attracted me to the game. Played this game for years until it was hacked, and the devs closed the servers.

Wow, surprised to see another ToP player, grinded past lv 100s. Daily Black Dragon guild war was fun name but usually one guild would eventually steamroll another or drama happens. the game is still live under private ownership, skins and skills revamped atm

I recently started playing a CoP era private server and have enjoyed it quite a bit.

My first MMO was called Tales of Pirates (originally named Pirate King Online) it was made by Chinese company MOLI in 2007 and published by IGG. It blew me away, it was the first time I could see and interact with so many real people in a video game, I'm a fan of pirate settings so I liked it instantly.

I have very fond memories of it since I got my younger brother and even my dad into it. To this day some of the theme songs give me a strong nostalgia feeling lol.

The official servers shut down in 2016 but I had stopped playing it quite a bit before that.
Chez moi, il fait beau.
WoW was my second. FFXI was my first, that I played for a couple years. Then onto WoW. And then when FFXIV came out I moved to that and still play that to this day.

Italian, French, German.
RuneScape 2

I played WoW much later on WotLK private servers. Both RuneScape and WoW would be in my top 20 games of all time.

Neverwinter Nights around '95. Looked and played like the old Goldbox games. I remember the hordes of people spamming the Dracolich fights in hopes of getting the gauntlets of ogre strength. Played for about 2 months.

Then I found a PS2 version of FFXI for $20 at Toys R Us in the summer of '07. Mained BLU and finally got it as my first job to 75 several months later after Wings of the Goddess came out. Followed by other 75 jobs of BST, DRK, and RNG over the next several years. Did the 3 nations stories and the Zilart expansion. Got stuck partway through CoP for the longest time until the first level cap increase to 80 when me a few linkshell friends were able to go through it with less than a full party. Finally started losing interest around 2019 when I got a new job and had to adjust to working overnights again. According to my FFXIAH history, September '19 is when I last played. Napkin math says I spent almost 2 real-life years playing the game (roughly 4 hours a day, every day, for 12 years).

2)One of the most chill locations in the game
3)God, I loved BST until Abyssea and post 75 fucked over charm
4)Heading into the finale of CoP.
The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes. That's fact.
Everything else, is theory.
I honestly don't remember my very first MMO too well, it was a multi-user text-based game. All I remember was trying to make my username Assassin and it said that it contained censored words so I shortened it to Asasin >_>

After that I played a lot of Phantasia IV, which is also text based, based on Lord of the Rings if I'm not mistaken. Apparently somehow that is still kickin'.

After *THAT* I got into Runescape, which was my first real regular MMORPG

No, never played WoW. Runescape was my first MMO. Probably the one I played the most too. The one I've played most recently is The Old Republic.
Many Bothans died to bring you this post.
My introduction to the MMORPG genre was through Ragnarok Online private servers. I spent my last year or so of high school playing that way~

I did eventually play WoW, first a couple of attempts at the trial version to see how it was, then properly subscribed at the launch of Warlords of Draenor. Every time, it felt like I was just forcing myself to play it because it was the MMO. I feel like it's probably the kind of MMO that only really hooks you if it's your first, which I imagine it was for a lot of people. Every time I played, I kept thinking about how I could've been playing something more fun instead. I think the thing I found most interesting about WoW was the ability to link emotes and skills to the same button so I could laugh while launching fireballs~

Dead branches were the best part of that game in the early days.
