He was fantastic in Bullet TrainThis was the film that convinced me he could be Bond

.
At this point, I don't care who plays him as long as the movies are actually good and like actual James Bond movies. They tried doing a different spin on him. Now go back to what everyone loves about JB movies.
are they like always english though, every single one?No, they've been Scottish and Irish too
No, they've been Scottish and Irish toobut they can never be american though right? any of you would like an american. Iirc brosnan and connery were not from england itself, iirc. Are the bond movies really as huge as when brosnan was doing it?
are they like always english though, every single one?Connery - Scottish
It's that time of the month again where tabloids pick a name out of the hat and claim they're James Bond. Next month it'll be Richard Madden again and then Henry Cavill. He's only too old now because you all have been saying he's too old for like 20 years
Too old.
I doubt modern audiences would resonate with the more outlandish supervillain plots anymore. Jason Bourne changed the game, and that's why the Craig era was the way it was. Moonraker, The Spy Who Loved Me, and the like were great at the time. They're still watchable today. But as new releases? Eh...
But, I'm curious, what do you mean by "what everyone loves about JB movies?" I'm interested.
I think that was true 15-20 years ago when the Bourne movies came out and the Bond folks did Casino Royale, but at this point I think many people would like a return to form, so to speak. People love the Marvel movies and they're full of over the top supervillains and plots. You don't have to go super ridiculous anyway. Just don't be so dry. I think there's a happy medium.
Just the typical formula with the fun gadgets and cars, the quips, the fun. Stuff like that.
I thought you might mention superhero movies, but I'd counter that those are a genre with actual superpowered people (and even gods) that wield magic and other abilities far outside the realm of anything we'd accept in the spy genre. You know what you're going into with a Marvel movie and adjust mindset accordingly.
I always enjoyed the films that had more realistic villains. Gonna bomb a dam and flood Silicon Valley? Cool, I'm on board with your villainy Mr. Walken. Dropping tungsten rods from an orbital weapons platform? That's too much for me. But I'll take all the assassins with the gadgets and weaponry every day of the week.
I want Ian McKellen for Bondyeah oldest bond ever. Are the bond movies even a fraction as huge as the goldeneye movie, days, brosnan? I liked brosnan a lot . Was in most of the bond movies i liked. Don't really like any of the craig ones....he might have been the highest grossing bond...by total movie, unadjusted for inflation though, i don't get it.
Connery - ScottishYou forgot Niven, who was English.
Lazenby - Australian
Moore - English
Dalton - English
Brosnan - Irish
Craig - English
I can get behind a black or Asian actorDark_Arbron posted...
My only non-negotiable requirement is that they be British .

Too old.
Pierce Brosnan was 42 in Goldeneye.
And Idris Elba is still fit as fuck.
Alba is 51 now, think of how long it will take them to get this next movie filmed. And they're not looking for someone to just do a one off.Never say never. The guy could easily do two or three movies and pass the torch off.
Idris Alba is fucking awesome, but people just need to accept that he's never going to play Bond.
Never say never. The guy could easily do two or three movies and pass the torch off.Back when Brosnan was Bond, we used to get a Bond film every 2-3 years. Now we're talking 5+ years per film.
Never say never.

If they got Elba now and it took 3 years to make his first film, that would put him at 54. At the current rate of Bond films, he'd be around 60 for his second. Eon want a Bond actor that'll last for multiple films.
Back when Brosnan was Bond, we used to get a Bond film every 2-3 years. Now we're talking 5+ years per film.5+ years for a single Bond film sounds overtly gratuitous.

Nice, hopefully it's true. Bullet Train felt like his audition for a Bond. Why did that guy say, 52? Idk
Jessica Alba is only 42. She could do it if she were British. Idris Elba is unfortunately too old at this point.
I like calling Aaron Taylor-Johnson an "MCU" star when he was a supporting character in one movie and died in it.https://youtu.be/TjSHBKAb9Lg?t=133
