I hate when killers say that. The Doomsday Mom said that too. That her kids forgive her ( who she murdered)

Some of the 'hardest' people have breaking points, especially once they realize they have no out for the situation they're in. Early 30s is around the time you start fully acknowledging your mortality.
Oh, yes, I agree the sentence will have it sink in.

I meant that for most people having a judge verbally set your goddamn entrails on fire would be a wake-up call, this lady's just unlikely to hear it for a few years.

Seriously though, fuck that evil individual for what she did to her own child all for her own selfish reasons.

Did she say what she thought would happen? Did she have any ounce of belief that her child could survive 10 days without food, water, and any kind of care? Surely this could not have came as a shock to her. There was no other outcome. She should have just turned herself in before even going on vacation

Yeah it definitely doesn't sound like remorse to decide for the victim that all is forgiven. But she has the rest of her life to let it sink in. Good on the judge for throwing the book at her.

And this is why she get life sentence. No remorse, thinking everything is forgiven.

She shouldn't even get a life sentence. Just throw her in a windowless room and forget about her. Let her feel what her child felt.

What the actual fuck.
The thing that is really sad is that doing this for any period of time is cruel. Babies and toddlers are really clingy and want to feel safe being near a parent or adult. They are still incredibly social and want to soak up all of that human behaviour around them like a sponge. They constantly want stimulation. Food too for their rapidly growing bodies.

Who knows how long it took for this poor baby to die. But it also makes me think of all of those mistreated babies and toddlers who have to go through this regularly but aren't left alone long enough to starve. I doubt this was the first time this girl went through it either.

There's just this extra element of these stories hitting hard when you have kids of your own or see a baby grow up over this stage. They're just these innocent and sweet little things who want to be taken care of. It's not fair that so many don't get a chance to even have that. She fought hard for her life but it just wasn't a fair fight.

see this is exactly why I said before that not everyone is fit to have kids

should not even attempt to have them if you arent 100% committed

Jesus I wouldn't even be able to leave my daughter alone unattended in my house for even 5 minutes, how anyone else can leave for even 10 days away just baffles me. Like the only way she could pull something like that off is if she really hates her toddler, and that even shows on her quote. I'm just so devastated by this, i can't imagine how much suffering that toddler went through to die from malnutrition, especially living in a first world country like this where food is abundant. Maybe because I'm a father, but this story just wrecks me.

Yeah, I've heard of people being resentful of how their life is going and blaming it on their kid(s). And as a father, I can kind of get intrusive thoughts like that creeping in every now and again. The infant phase can be pretty rough.

But I've never heard of anyone taking it so far to just straight up abandon their toddler for a week and a half. And then she was surprised that her baby was dead?

You actually care about your daughter. This woman had contempt for her kid and viewed her as an inconvenience and hindrance that was doing things like stopping her from going on vacation. She wanted to kill the kid but didn't have the stomach to do it herself so she took a trip knowing the kid would die out of sight out of mind while getting to do something she hadn't been able to do since having her.

And it's perfectly fine to feel that way--while it's preferable to just know you're going to feel that way and not have a kid in the first place, there's still plenty of legal ways to get rid of a kid without killing them.

She didn't want that, though, because she had contempt. Maybe postpartum depression played a role, even, idk. Point is her goal was to murder the kid. Abandoning her was just how she chose to do it.

Yeah I'll fully admit that newborns are the hardest to take care of by far. They will cry for various of things and most of the time you have to guess what they are crying about and will do so on their accord, not yours which includes nights of no sleep. There were nights where I didn't get sleep for 3 days straight (thank goodness for paternal leave being a thing) and I had thoughts of "did I make a mistake?" and "I give and give, while this brat takes and takes. It's never good enough for them is it!". Upon self-reflection, what did make it easier was that I did have a family safety net to help like my wife and both of our parents to assist. If I had to take care of the newborn all by myself, I might have gotten crazy as well. Not to the extent of what the monster did here, but I would probably be bald ripping my hair out or maybe even yell at the baby to shut up...which is a scary thought the more I think about it. Luckily my second new born is ALOT easier as I'm not struggling that much anymore as I did with my first newborn (who was insanely high maintenance) or maybe I got better (that's what my wife says).

Yes, yes it does. It doesn't make you the worst, but it is objectively bad, and it is unlikely to have a parent that does this one bad thing and is fine otherwise.

As I parent, I can't imagine thinking I'll leave my young toddler alone in a crib for 10 days and it'll be ok. It's murder, first degree. Life in prison is a pointless sentence. Death by starvation is a weak punishment for this bad parent.

This deserves something higher than 1st degree. This is basically the 2nd to worst possible way I could imagine a kid having to die.

Straight up animal. To enjoy yourself while knowing this is going on ffs....WOW.

EDIT. I am sorry I insulted animals.

Demon.
All kids deserve a loving parent.

Not all parents deserve their child.

The mother won't last long in prison, so she basically has a death sentence. And hope it takes days and it's painful.

God can't imagine day 2 or 3, not even a full day with the baby just sitting there looking around wondering what happening and then suffering to the end. As much i hate to say it, I hope they baby didn't have to deal with that for so long ....smh

Pure evil.

Yes, because she shows zero remorse.

When someone kills their child and whines about how difficult it's been for them , I'm not going to go out of my way for compassion.

You're right, she certainly has some kind of severe mental health problems to be this neglectful, more than just depression. And maybe if she was given the right health care and warning signs about this behavior were acted on, this horrific accident wouldn't have happened. Unfortunately, it did happen and she's being rightfully held accountable for it, so the next logical step is to put money and resources toward prevention via mental health services.
Or maybe she's just a piece of s*** person?

According to news stories, the crying was picked up on a neighbor's doorbell camera. The camera also saw the mother leave for her trip and when she returned.

She also was apparently taking medication for depression and anxiety, but stopped taking them. One story says they ran out before she went on the trip, which could cause side effects from ending them cold turkey. She also attempted suicide not long before the trip.

She also has a 7 year old daughter. Didn't see a story that said where she was, presumably with her father or other relation.

Wondee whats the chance this is exactly what she wanted and I do mean prison sentence and all. Some people do give up on life but don't wanna kill themselves so they intentionally go to prison. Prison ain't fun but it does lack certain stresses like paying bills and being able to buy food.

she is absolutely an evil, subhuman monster
"God and my daughter have forgiven me."

Words fail me. Not enough to leave her daughter starving to death in her own filth while she partied it up, she's gonna act like her daughter let her off the hook for the pain she's going through over it.

What a disgusting bitch.

...I mean, you should, because it's the mental health issues that cause somebody to be a serial killer, and thus we should want to treat said mental health issues BEFORE somebody becomes a serial killer as much as we can.

Do you think people are just... Destined to become serial killers, no matter what, or something? Your post is so bizarre.

I feel like this is the point, though. If somebody enjoys torturing animals, they clearly need help. And the LACK of help is what creates problems later on.

That said, I get the emotional response, completely.

EDIT: Also, to be fair, you hear extremely few cases of somebody enjoying something like torturing animals out of the blue. It's often caused by some kind of trauma or influence, which, if properly treated, could likely be improved/cured.

I can think of no way in which this could possibly not count as premeditated murder.

Unless you think she went to check the mail and some people kidnapped her and forced her onto a cruise ship.
