Anyone else really like places like Applebee's, Chili's, etc.? I don't know what you call these places. They are like a step above fast food, but they are not fancy. Like if you go above Red Lobster then you are getting too fancy for these types of places. Anywho, I just love them so much, I don't know why. Maybe good food and good prices. And I really love that most of them have Ice Cream served with a hot brownie. Chef's kiss. I know that there are way better places. But I don't care for them as much as these types of places. But I have not been since Covid. I am not eating in public and getting to go takes away from it. So that makes me sad.

family restaurant is probably an appropriate term for them.

go in and there's all sorts of weird shit on the walls. old newspaper clippings. a license plate or two.

Chilis has good tacos!

Just last week I went to Chili's for the first time in a really long time because I was in the mood for fajitas, and it was really good! Service was really fast and prompt, and I had a nice time/experience.

I've weirdly never been to Applebee's, but I've been to countless other similar restaurants, including Chili's.
...I think I'm done here...
I actually haven't been to one of them in a long long time. I'm on the Jersey Shore and there's so many good restaurants it feels like a waste to go to one of them. They aren't that much cheaper, either.

They're alright. Chili's is better than Applebee's, but it pisses me off that almost everything they have is a million calories.

I liked it, at least I did. I haven't been to one in a long time, but I used to work next to one, so I would stop in there after work two or three nights a week to eat dinner. For a while it became my Cheers. They knew my name, and sometimes, if the bartender saw me come in, there's be a beer waiting for me before I even sat down at the bar.

I like the appetizers at both better than the entrees. The mozzarella sticks at Applebees are really good and the chips and salsa at Chili's is great. I used to love the chicken crispers at Chili's but they changed them and they aren't as good now.

The Quesadilla burger is great, and they have a really strong appetizer selection

The chicken enchilada soup from Chili's is legit one of my favorite things from any restaurant.

I've never understood the appeal. For as much as they cost, you could get better food. But they're obviously popular.

Applebee's has the maple butter blondie one of the best things you can buy at any restaurant

Really like? Nah. But they are good in a pinch. Like if I'm on the road and see them on a sign, I know I can atleast go to the bar and get an appetizer.

I like Chilis but never make a point to go there

Not a fan of those two but I like places like Olive Garden and red lobster well enough. I was bummed when they shut down the Outback here
Getting C's and D's, saying thanks and please.

They're decent places to go to if you're taking the kids out too

What are you talking about. Chili's is damn reasonable for what you get. Compared to fast food, it is a great deal.
I used to like them but then I stopped being able to find anyone to go with. Generational thing, I guess. Must be all old people who go there.

They've been fighting that battle for decades. They'll change to a variety that's not as good, keep it that way for a little while, then change them back.
I hate chains. Especially nationwide ones. Local chains are fine.

Guess it depends on where you live/what's available.

I actually like Chili's for that niche of restaurant. Usually a fairly diverse menu compared to others in that category.

They used to be okay a few years ago, before covid, but now the quality has gone way down hill.

I think they're alright. Can be kind of pricy, but with how fast food prices shot up it's way more competitive now, especially with things like lunch deals. Quality does feel like it dipped a bit in recent years, though.

I tend to get takeout if I have it, with rare exceptions. There was a Chili's like a block from my old office, so I did the lunch deal every few weeks.
I prefer the sauce packets at Sysco Dump #1 over Sysco Dump #2.

I love chili's because my girlfriend has a 50% off discount card we use whenever we go there since she works at one, its great

I have no reason to eat at these places. I can walk from my house to at least dozens of restaurants that are better

when Im traveling I want to go somewhere local

if I want something fast I get fast food

actually theres one case where Ive eaten at one of these, and its when Im at the airport (which has a Chilis in the terminal) and literally every other option is closed, and I immediately regret it

Applebees sucks. Chiles is ok for some items.

I like Chili's. Their southwestern egg rolls are bomb.
