it's good but it's so obviously a show for toddlers I can't imagine anyone without kids (or young niblings) getting anything out of it

Thats just not true. This isnt blues clues or dragon tales. This is a show that speaks to people of all ages, because it does an amazing job of making you relate to every character in the show.

it seems like it would speak to adults who have/have had kids

childless adults watching this blatant toddler show is weird af to me. there is stuff in there for adults and it's high quality entertainment for children, but it's not really all that different from sesame street in that respect imo

I just dont get what childless adults get from this show and how its built a fandom with that audience. The things in it that are for adults, are directly about parenting and the experience of raising a toddler

i cant imagine recommending this show to anyone outside of the context of its great to watch with your kids

Just giving another perspective for a user that posted about it. They might be expecting like a Pixar-like appropriate for all ages thing. This isnt that. This is very squarely a show with a 2-5 year old intended audience, and their parents

It's nothing like Sesame Street. Sesame Street is explicitly about kids learning in a kids show. There's nothing real about that world.

Bluey is a kids show with regular adult stuff happening around them that they don't know the context of.

But yes a lot of it is about raising kids today and how that changes our perspectives of things. So perhaps if you don't have kids you won't find it as relatable compared to people that do.

I don't agree honestly. Bluey is very much a family show. The closest comparison is maybe Rugrats but even then I'd say this show deals with a lot more mature stuff most of the time.

Look I have kids and this is a show for kids. It's more entertaining than a lot of the shit out there if you're an adult, but we also have that cool haunted candy store anime where the kids die sometimes in Japan, so the bar is pretty high here.

It's just good TV. Well written, funny, and often poignant.

I can't imagine why people think their lives have to somehow resemble those of characters in a show in order for them to get something out of it.

Very judgmental of you. I got into the show before my niece was born. Show is touching and does touch on subjects that even adults need to better themselves with.

Now that I have a niece that I take care of, we watch it together and we enjoy it, laughing. I say give it a try before you start mucking on people's mud.

Anyway wha's wrong with adults watching Bluey? You're acting like they are doing something immoral. It is not your place to tell people how to spend their free time.

I remember seeing a clip from the show and it was basically about infertility and people that have to go through that while also wanting to have kids themselves.

Just from that I feel like this show was meant to be watched by the whole family together because the adult and kids both get something out of it, but I can also see either demographic watching it on their own time as well.

I feel like MLP got blown out of proportion by both sides.

There were absolutely some adult fans who took it way too far and got legitimately creepy about it. I'm not going to argue that.

But the show by its own merit is fine. I watched a few episodes just to see what all the hype/controversy was about and, honestly, it's a pretty good kid's show. I can see the appeal and wouldn't object if I was at somebody's house and their kid was watching it.

Goddamn that specific section of the fanbase ruined everything, though.
MLP was the perfect storm honestly.
It had a rabid fanbase and a rabid hate base.
Lots of folks forget that the reason that it even started to gain popularity in the first place was because it was the easiest way to make people on 4chan mad.

Yesh, thats what makes it different than a show that has random adult jokes hidden in a kids show. It actually has adults going through adult situations

in five-seven minute episodes. A lot of very grown up things are implied, including things like miscarriages and vasectomies.
Ive been all about bluey for almost 4 years now.

sleepy time is one of the most tear jerking 8 minutes of television youll watch if youre a parent.

i think on its own its a very well written and poignant show. But to really enjoy it for what it excels at, being a parent is almost a necessity.

Nobody particularly cared about them liking MLP.

Spreading around how much they wanted to fuck a cartoon pony, that was pretty much why bronies got the treatment they did.

While I do think there was a.. borderline homophobic hatred of men who liked MLP, there was definitely a lot of men who liked MLP for.. different reasons other than just the quality of the show.

I'm talking about the very start of it becoming popular.
People kept posting reaction images, and it made 4chan users upset, people recognized that it made them upset, and then started doing it to continue making people upset.
