It's 2024, well after Covid. Do you tip when picking up orders?

During covid and prior to widespread availability of vaccines, tipping for pick up was the norm since these brave souls were putting themselves on the line as essential workers to ensure you can pick up your favorite restaurant food.

But what about now, in 2024, with covid done, and vaccines widely available, and the world almost back to normal; do you tip when picking up your food?

i dont anymore
I never tipped when I had to go pick up the food. Not even during covid.
I don't order food anymore. I buy from the supermarket and make it at home.
(He/Him)
The only reason I can come up with that anyone might tip for takeout is if it's one of those places that make you pay when you order instead of when you pick up and they're afraid of tampering.
There's a difference between canon and not-stupid.
I didn't order food during COVID and it stuck.

So no, I don't tip because I don't use them any more.
I tipped before COVID. Not as much as I would a waiter but a dollar or two depending on how much I ordered.

Also it may be 2024 but COVID is endemic. It'll never be truly gone.

Before covid, never had a place automatically put tip into the final price before checking out online. Now, its everywhere and you have to actively hit custom and enter $0 or no tip option. Its awful.

No, and I didn't during covid either. I was the one working.

Fun fact: Restaurant owners were supposed to ramp everyone up to minimum wage or higher and use the PPA loans to maintain their staff.

I do not know a single owner who didn't renovate, build elaborate outdoor dining spaces, buy a car or just "lose" the money. Wage theft in restaurants is why I got out of the industry. It's so, so bad.

I've only done delivery since covid, which I do tip for.

There was absolutely no monitoring of how the funds were being spent which is exactly what the Republicans wanted. It was rife with fraud and it was all forgiven but meanwhile it's people with college loans being forgiven who are "scum stealing our money and need to pay it back!"

I did never and would never tip on a pick up order. Same as tipping for a haircut or something, like I'M LITERALLY ALREADY PAYING YOU for this.

If I order online and it's from a fast casual place, no.

If I order online and it's from a full service place, usually a few bucks because I never know if they're making a full wage or not.

If I'm ordering in-person at a fast casual place, usually a few bucks because they awkwardly stare at you when the question comes up on the fucking screen. Fuck whoever decided that should be a default feature in modern point of sale systems.

(If I'm ordering in-person at a full service place, it's most likely because I'm eating there, and then I'll tip accordingly).
