It has slowed down, considerably. For now, at least, international pressure is curtailing the most bloodthirsty impulses of the IDF.

I don't doubt the legitimacy of it. It's exactly the kind of shit Israel would pull; and I was already calling that we'd likely find out this was the case before anywhere was confirming it.

However, using a source with a known reputation for being unreliable only does favors for the other side. "Look. They're using sources like Daily Beast. You don't need to take them seriously."

Netanyahu vows to invade Rafah with or without a deal as cease-fire talks with Hamas continue
TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged Tuesday to launch an incursion into the southern Gaza city of Rafah, where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are sheltering from the almost 7-month-long war, just as cease-fire negotiations between Israel and Hamas appear to be gaining steam.
Netanyahus comments came hours before U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken was to arrive in Israel to advance the truce talks which appear to be one of the most serious rounds of negotiations between Israel and Hamas since the war began. The deal is meant to free hostages, bring some relief to the population and avert an Israeli offensive into Rafah and the potential harm to civilians there.
Netanyahu said Israel would enter Rafah, which Israel says is Hamas last stronghold, regardless of whether a truce-for-hostages deal is struck. His comments appeared to be meant to appease his nationalist governing partners but it was not clear whether they would have any bearing on any emerging deal with Hamas.
The idea that we will stop the war before achieving all of its goals is out of the question, Netanyahu said, according to a statement from his office. We will enter Rafah and we will eliminate Hamas battalions there with or without a deal, to achieve the total victory.
The U.S. has repeatedly said it opposes the Rafah operation until Israel presents a credible plan for evacuating and protecting the estimated 1.5 million people seeking shelter there.

Blinken, speaking in Jordan before flying to Israel, said the focus right now is on improving the humanitarian situation and reaching a cease-fire deal that brings Israeli hostages home. He said Israel has offered a strong proposal and called on Hamas to respond.
No more delays. No more excuses. The time to act is now, he said. We want to see in the coming days this agreement coming together.
Netanyahu has faced pressure from his governing partners not to proceed with a deal that might prevent Israel from invading Rafah. His government could be threatened if he agrees to a deal because hardline Cabinet members have demanded an attack on Rafah.
Netanyahu met on Tuesday with one of those partners, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, according to the ministers office, who said Netanyahu promised him that Israel will enter Rafah, promised that we are not stopping the war and promised that there wont be a reckless deal.
With more than half of Gazas 2.3 million people sheltering in Rafah, the international community, including Israels top ally, the United States, has warned Israel against any offensive that puts civilians at risk.
Netanyahu on Tuesday was addressing the Tikva Forum, a small group of families of hostages thats distinct from the main group representing the families of captive Israelis. The forum has indicated that it prefers to see Hamas crushed over the freedom of their loved ones. Most families and their supporters have demonstrated in the thousands every week for a deal that would bring the hostages home, saying it should take precedence over military action.
Netanyahus coalition is made up of ultranationalist and conservative religious parties, and critics of the Israeli leader say his decision-making during the war has been driven by political considerations rather than national interests, a charge Netanyahu denies. His government could collapse if one of the parties opposed to a deal pulls out, a scenario Netanyahu would try to avoid considering his support has plummeted in opinion polls since the war began, although it has seen a slight gradual uptick.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who heads the ultranationalist Religious Zionist party, said Monday that he was seeking total annihilation of Israels enemies, appearing to refer to Hamas, in a recorded portion of his remarks at an event marking the end of the Passover holiday which were aired in Israeli media.
You cant do half a job, he said.
The current deal being discussed, brokered by the U.S., Egypt and Qatar, would see the release of dozens of hostages in exchange for a six-week halt in fighting as part of an initial phase, according to an Egyptian official and Israeli media. Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel would also be released, including some serving long sentences.
Blinken, who was meeting with regional leaders in Saudi Arabia and Jordan before landing in Tel Aviv later Tuesday, urged Hamas on Monday to accept the latest proposal, calling it extraordinarily generous on Israels part.
But a sticking point remains over what happens next. Hamas has demanded assurances that an eventual release of all hostages will bring a complete end to Israels nearly seven-month assault in Gaza and a withdrawal of its troops from the devastated territory. Israel has offered only an extended pause, vowing to resume its offensive once the first phase of the deal is over. The issue has repeatedly obstructed efforts by the mediators during months of talks.
The Israel-Hamas war was sparked by the unprecedented Oct. 7 raid into southern Israel in which militants killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted around 250 hostages. Israel says the militants are still holding around 100 hostages and the remains of more than 30 others.
The war in Gaza has killed more than 34,000 Palestinians, according to local health officials. The war has driven around 80% of Gazas population of 2.3 million from their homes, caused vast destruction in several towns and cities and pushed northern Gaza to the brink of famine.

As for Netanyahu, he's too far in now. He's not going to stop no matter what the world says. I'm not sure how he could be deterred at this point, maybe if his Government continues to lose popularity in Israel.

The most "left" thing about them is that almost every other major news media outlet has shifted more and more toward the right-wing as per the demands of their billionaire owners. Presumably, Comcast just likes having a centrist/establishment/"liberal"/"left" outlet (the aforementioned MSNBC) in addition to an openly right-wing one (CNBC) for whatever reason.

The US state department has found five units of the Israeli military responsible for gross violations of human rights in individual incidents, but says they will continue to receive US military backing.

All the incidents are believed to have taken place in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem in recent years.

The US government says it considers torture, extrajudicial killing, enforced disappearance and rape as such types of violations when implementing the Leahy law.

Sickening. The protests are not anti Semitic. Many of them are actually Jewish themselves
https://www.aclu.org/documents/aclu-urges-congress-to-oppose-anti-semitism-awareness-act

The American Civil Liberties Union sent a letter urging Congress to oppose H.R. 6090, the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act. As the letter notes, federal law already prohibits antisemitic discrimination and harassment by federally funded entities. H.R. 6090 is therefore not needed to protect against antisemitic discrimination; instead, it would likely chill free speech of students on college campuses by incorrectly equating criticism of the Israeli government with antisemitism.

You know the shit stinks MTG, AOC, and the ACLU are united against it.
Biden better not sign that bill, but he surely will if it passes. And that'll bring him one step closer to a loss this November. It won't be possible to argue that any future repression is not with his blessing.

Adam, a football fanatic and massive Lionel Messi fan, stood with his older brother Baha, 14. There were about nine boys on the street in total, all captured on CCTV cameras that provided a nearly 360-degree view of what happened next.

A few hundred metres away, a convoy of at least six armoured Israeli military vehicles turned a corner and began heading towards the boys, who clearly became uneasy. Several of the boys started to move away.
At this precise moment, mobile phone footage shows the front door of an armoured vehicle opened. The soldier inside had a direct view of the boys. Basil had darted into the middle of the road, while Adam was 12m further from the soldiers, running away.
Then at least 11 gunshots rang out.
Examining the scene, the BBC found the bullets struck a wide area. Four bullets hit a metal pole, two the shutter of the hardware store, one burrowed its way through the bumper of a parked car, and another pierced a handrail.

Medical reports obtained by the BBC show that two shots hit Basil in the chest.

Another bullet struck eight-year-old Adam in the back of the head as he ran away; his older brother Baha desperately tried to drag him to cover, leaving a trail of blood as he screamed for an ambulance.

But it was too late. Baha said Adam and his friend Basil died in front of him.

The article has documentation.

It's not bizarre when the idea of israel, an apartheid ethnostate, meshes so well with their ideology. It separates Jewish people from the rest of the world and also serves as a model for a white apartheid ethnostate. By the way, pointing this out will be illegal under the new "anti-semitism" bill if it becomes law.

Israel's Far-right Minister Smotrich Calls for 'No Half Measures' in the 'Total Annihilation' of Gaza

Finance Minister and member of the security cabinet Bezalel Smotrich called on Monday for annihilating Israel's enemies, saying "There are no half measures. [The Gazan cities of] Rafah, Deir al-Balah, Nuseirat total annihilation. 'You will blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven' there's no place under heaven."

Smotrich, who also is a minister in the Defense Ministry, added that when Hamas is destroyed, Israel must "clear out, with God's help, with one blow, wicked Hezbollah in the north, and really send a message that what will happen to those who harm the Jewish people is the same as those who have tried to harm us in the past they will be destroyed, destroyed, destroyed. And it will echo for decades to come."
