Fandom will kill Gamefaqs
As we know it absolutely. No, in general.
No, in general.
No one actually thinks this site will ever be relevant in any capacity ever again, so acting like they're playing 4D chess to win a "new generation" is completely asinine.
They don't have any reason to drive engagement. Gamefaqs could have a million daily message board users and it wouldn't make them much money. Message boards are dying and are only viable if they're not for profit or are treated as a side benefit attached to something profitable like Steam. Unlike other forms of social media you can't data mine message boards, and owners are liable for toxic users. The hot new thing is killing all your forums and telling everyone to go to Discord, this is what Ubisoft and a few other publishers have done.
There's nothing Fandom can do to "save GameFAQs". It has always been a JRPG and Nintendo site. JRPGs have been in massive decline since 2007 and Nintendo has done of things that aren't really popular with GameFAQs boomers. Walkthroughs and FAQs have wikis and youtube videos that are often superior to the old GameFAQs text format. There's not much Fandom can do to attract new users. A vast majority of users here are late 30s/early 40s.Shutting down and locking popular boards is not good site management or a way to bring in new visitors.
That said there are things Fandom has done to make the site worse and it goes beyond the whole CE/261 drama that some people are taking way out of proportion. Intrusive ads, lackluster bounties, and outdated website design are the main takeaways.
Gamefaqs probably represents like one % on Fandoms balance sheet. All they care about is the IP of the guides. As Ive said multiple times in the past I get the feeling the social boards didnt factor into the purchasing decision one iota. Once the boards are gone so am I. Im not sure why we seem to be in disagreement hereOh I'm sure GameFAQs itself didn't factor into the purchasing decision one iota.
Shutting down and locking popular boards is not good site management or a way to bring in new visitors.Well yeah, but it's far down on the list of problems that GameFAQs is facing right now.

Still better than Red Ventures where admins just rubber stamped suspensions.
I don't live on here and didn't catch your response. Why do you think Asherlee specifically would want CE to be shutdown? I just dont understand where the hostility towards her or the idea that she wanted CE shut down is coming from.
If you only came back to this board because 261 was closed, than i am only very slightly off base. You can amend my earlier statement to "you only started posting here again "
And i have never once defended kazi, in any topic or circumstance, so if anyone is off base, it's you. Calling you out for shedding crocodile tears over a board you wouldn't care about if you weren't forced by fandom to be here isn't defending him, i even described his gimmick in this topic.
Which of Fandom's websites shares revenue with the people that submit content for them to monetize?Wouldnt it be nice with a $300k bounty?
I don't live on hereTry applying that energy to when you try running off people who have been here a decade longer than you, cap'n.

I want CE to shut down.We know.
I want CE to shut downCould always close and make a new account if you can't stop yourself.
I hate everything about it. Especially how they try to be the pop culture version of Wikipedia. I have this suspicion that they paid someone off at Google to redirect everything to them instead of Wikipedia.see the video in #67. >_<

Fandom can go fuck themselves on a spiked dildo and I hope they see this.
No hornypostingFandom should be cancelled for using hornypanic as their justification for banning hornyposting.
There's an extension that redirects you away from their wikis to the ones all the actual communities moved to, major improvement if you are someone that constantly browses game wikisFucking BULBAPEDIA is right now suppressed behind their shitty Pokemon Wiki.

Or just close. Nobody is making you keep your account if you're unhappy here.
No I want the entire website to shut down.Okay tails.
No I want the entire website to shut down.Well you should follow my previous advice and Asherless's current advice
You could save us all the trouble and close your account. But that would make sense for someone not happy with someplace to actually leave instead of giving that place business.
