Marvel has to be the most dystopian place ever
Magic, Aliens, Gods, Time travel, dimensional travel, government conspiracies, illuminati, corporate and government corruption. All of these things that people fight over in today's world exist there and even with it staring them in the face humanity just continues on either ignoring it outright or not caring about it, the human behavior in these comics are no different than the human behavior in real life and that's deeply saddening to me, it feels like stagnation, that we legit can't be better than what we are today, dumb, violent and tribal and the corruption and endless greed of those we put into power over us has only made the problem worse and there's no real solution, burn it all down? Something worse will crop up to take it's place, try and use facts, reason, logic and empathy? Lose to someone using Hatred, Fear and Lies.
When you think about it like that it's no wonder the X-Men as an IP shifted from co-existence and acceptance to Fuck these people, we need to get away from them and learn not to be like them and now Magneto is more of a positive force than Charles was and this is the guy who started from an organization called The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
To think, one day we're gonna start looking at Doctor Doom as a positive example of what a country leader should be because all of ours are worse than he is or are so incompetent they make him look like someone whose country you want to live in.
