I dont think admins are doing their best but I dont think theyre doing an absolutely stinker of a job either. Frankly with the board privatized CE overall seems to be a bit less toxic because they dont want to lose access. Less toxicity is always better imo

CE was fine after the karma limit was raised, because the obvious bad faith posters were still getting banned within a day or two most of the time. people like SMAL were eliminated entirely since he's incapable of getting an account to 50 karma.

It's always funny to me when people bring up toxicity and CE.

The system boards are way more toxic than this board has ever been. They're rampant with sexism, transphobia, antisemitism, etc and absolutely nothing is done to them and nothing is still being done.

Sure, CE at times can be toxic, but nothing compared to system boards. Furthermore the actions of the really toxic people like TaiIs and company should not be reflected on us.

According to them, CE is responsible for doxxing him (This, if it happened was likely conducted by TaiIs and his crew) and sending him death threats (If this is true it was also likely conducted, again, by TaiIs and his crew).

So, instead of going after the problem directly, Toasty and Timmy decided "It's CE's fault entirely, fuck them, let's punish them because we're incompetent at doing our job."

And we find ourselves here, while we wait for them to close CE permanently, all the while Toasty let's KoS users back into CE.

I agree with the overarching sentiment behind some of the decisions made but I disagree at the way they've been implemented.

For Example: I'm happy for politics to be banned in general across the site but ideally they should have kept the politics board around and made that private rather than making CE the de facto politics boards. The politics talk

CE overnight became a refuge for those that used to post on the politics board and I feel the board definitely became a worse place for it.

I also applaud the sites stance on trans issues. A long time coming based on some of the harassment certain users on here have had to ensure over the last few years.

I don't really have any issues with DToast. Much like SBAllen he's working within the confines of his job role. I feel like he's acted in good faith on the most part, albeit a little naive at times in terms of his engagement with some troll users and some of his comment ($300k bounties? come on lol). He's shown he's flexible by letting people onto CE recently and a handful have repaid that faith by instantly posting a load of abhorrent content. That's not a good way to build good rapport with the admin of a site when ideally you'd like to keep him on side. I do suspect that poster in specific had an ulterior motive and again it's a shame how some people seem to have a vendetta against this site.

From the sound of it, youve spent little to no time worrying if youre displaying abusive behavior, offensive, or trolling in the pastand now you are. So its more safe and secure for those you interact with, just not you.

You are. We all are. We always have been. Thats why we post.

For my part, I answered yes. Users are no longer dogpiling people who go against the grain with inflammatory posts because they realize it could actually have consequences now. So people who have always been around are still here, just behaving more politely. Then people who were frequently trolling are still getting moderated. Seems like a win/win for any poster looking for genuine discussion.
