Or Blobbers as I've also heard them referred to. Picked up a few I'd been eyeing recently, but I've been surprised that a majority of them are Turn Based combat. The Grimrock games were one of the first ones I got really into, and Zanki Zero was a more recent one that I played through at the same time as some friends, so the real time combat is what I'm more used to.

Etrian Odyssey, Persona Q, Labyrinth of Refrain, etc are all turn based. I'm assuming some of the older games in the genre were real time, but does anyone else have any recommendations? I need to take a closer look at some of the indie games in the genre.
.......I got nothing.........
Class of Heroes 1 and 2 just got remastered. Theyre pretty fun.

Don't think I've heard of those. Adding them to the list!

Lists on the internet suck because they seem to want to categorize Darkest Dungeon, Slay the Spire, Torchlight and Cult of the Lamb as "dungeon crawlers".

There's Stonekeep by Interplay on GOG, also The Quest (which I heard is freakin' huge for a blobber type game).

And I guess if you wanna play a first of it's kind, there's also Ultima Underworld.

Oh and I forgot Waxworks. It's like a horror based dungeon crawler, and all the character deaths are gruesome. It's kind of a gross game.

Looks like a game just came out on Steam called Cryptmaster?

It almost looks like it's copying Typing of the Dead. But I guess not exactly. You just complete tasks or do skills by typing correct words. Like in combat you type "Hit" or "Boot" or something like that to attack.

The way I'd define it is: First Person Perspective, grid based, dungeon crawler with a focus on solving puzzles to progress in the dungeon with some form of combat sprinkled in.

Think the Grimrock games if you've played those.

I honestly believe the Etrian Odysseuly series stands at the top of DRPGs

Personal recommendations are EO5 or EO4.

Persona Q is pretty much reskinned EO but doesnt really satisfy either crowd so only play those if you're a big persona fan.
