Oh god we can finally fix Star Fox 64
What are native executables
Like .exe files on WindowsAh. I dont have a laptop/PC powerful enough to game on. Guess Im fucked.
What are native executablessame question
what was wrong with star Fox 64?The frame rate, for one. It would probably feel weird to play it without the slowdown.

In this context, you can think of it as a program designed to run on e.g. Windows 11, rather than emulating an N64 and running a rom through that.So its basically like that one emulator named after a certain porpoise?
Generally when you compile an executable natively it runs better on your system (and in some cases, runs at all) because it takes advantage of instructions available to your CPU.

no, think of it more like any old game on steam. The file is the game itself, you wouldnt need an emulator to run the file, if that makes sense. The game just becomes an app you can launch nativelyI'd be willing to bet a significant amount that this app just embeds the ROM into an all-in-one-EXE emulator.

Would it be possible to try this on already-native games to make them less fucked? Imagine being able to run Fallout 1 on a resizeable window without emu bullshit.
PC games have had mods since forever. Check GameNexus or GameBanana. Idk about Fallout 1 but Im sure there are many Quality-of-Life enhancements you can add
it converts the game into #C code and can be modified. Including adding random bs like Ray Tracing light effects lolOh, real? That's pretty amazing then. Assuming it produces at least somewhat human-friendly code rather than super obfuscated results.
Ah. I dont have a laptop/PC powerful enough to game on. Guess Im fucked. Its a Nintendo 64 game so I wouldnt be to sure of that.
The GitHub says this is supposed to be super easy but it really isn't. Unless you're playing the games, they already tested this on you're not recompiling anything.yeah the app is not launching and i'm not certain why
Ah. I dont have a laptop/PC powerful enough to game on. Guess Im fucked.there is no way you have a laptop/pc that's less powerful than the n64
I mean it should require wayyyy less specs than using an N64 emulator. Youd be able to run it on a toaster. And even on phones once someone makes a port. There's a native Linux recomp tool that makes them playable on steam deck. The MM recomp is already confirmed to work on it

@Guide
was just checking out of curiosity, have you checked out Fallout Community Edition? I dont exactly think its a source port like GZDoom or OpenRCT, but the goal is meant to make Fallout 1 and 2 optimized for modern operating systems. Didnt look into it much but consider taking a look.
This legitimately might be the biggest event in emulation ever, to the point it's not even emulation anymore lol. Imagine if we got a tool like this for PS1, Dreamcast, GameCube, etc
Calling C# code "natively compiled" is a bit of a misnomer too but I'll allow it.
there is no way you have a laptop/pc that's less powerful than the n64
Choco posted...this isn't an emulator.
Achktually. Emulators need to be many (to many many many) times more powerful than the original device.
