It's totally arbitrary for Super Sonic to be yellow when the Chaos Emeralds are a variety of colors, too. Not only would Sonic's transformation look less like a DBZ ripoff it was multicolored, but it'd make more sense with the Chaos Emeralds, which are used for him to transform.

It doesn't have to literally be flashing different colors like Hyper Sonic in S3&K, either:

I think I read somewhere that Super Sonic was originally gonna be multicolored in Sonic 2 like Hyper Sonic in Sonic 3K but due to technological limitations they had to make him one color

If he had to be one color at first then he should have been either white or light blue

Yeah, but "supersonic" is a more recognizable term than "hypersonic". Like, if you have a character named Sonic, whose entire gimmick is speed, and he has a powered up or "super" form, and the term "supersonic" is right there , are you really gonna just not do it?

It was obviously inspired by Super Saiyan lol. If it just had a different name than Super and used a different color than yellow, then it would have at least been less blatant. There would be fewer people pointing out the similarities.

It's long been alleged that those flashing colors cause seizures but there's never been any evidence that anyone got seizures over Hyper Sonic. But this flashing colors are pretty annoying to look at. Him being multicolored without flashing like in those fanarts would have been better (but in Sonic 3K, he could slowly change colors instead of flashing them).

Except the Concorde couldn't fly at Mach 5 which is the velocity definition of hypersonic (Concorde is just over Mach 2). Perhaps you saw a documentary on ramjets instead.

At the end of the day, "Hyper Sonic" sounds less like "Super Saiyan" than "Super Sonic" does. It's not like "Super Sonic" needed a different name to avoid comparisons to Super Saiyan; just changing the color from yellow to anything else would have been enough, but the less similarities to Super Saiyan, the better.

Yeah, I think Hyper Sonic should have been light, whitish blue with a rainbow-ish aura.
