Assassin Creed games are an alternate history.
African humans were not ninjas in Japan, ever.
Why are people fighting over this nonsense and not focusing on them making a single player game always online? We saw what they do with these games. It will eventually have the servers get shutdown and become unplayable.

People are really mad over the new character?
People are really mad over the new character?Yes. Gamers really don't want Black people in their games, unless they're far in the background.

Remember everyone melting down over the black samurai based on Yasuke in that game?
Me neither.
Kind of a disingenuous comparison, and I think you know that.

There appears to be a Japanese female playable character, so why don't people upset about the black one just use her.The people whose poor little feelings get hurt over the existence of black characters in games will also get upset about the existence of female characters.

Man, fuck that game.
Not because of the game itself, but because my brother plays it all the time.
Assassin Creed games are an alternate history.Um
African humans were not ninjas in Japan, ever.
Has Assassin Creed ever had an asian protag before?
Getting upset the character is black is dumb, however if they shafted an asian protag for this that is something.
Dude I love that game. I love basically all the Contra games excluding the Western shovelware ones (that's like every Konami series).
Yeah, you're right. This one is explicitly based on the historical guy that actually existed instead of fully fictional like Neo Contra. Would be great if someone could make a list of acceptable black samurai characters for games.
I can' t tell if this topic is making fun of the racists or defending the racists.
Assassin Creed games are an alternate history.1. A what-kind-of history?
African humans were not ninjas in Japan, ever.
Has Assassin Creed ever had an asian protag before?Even this game has an Asian protagonist. The Black samurai and a Japanese kunoichi are coprotagonists.

Just black characters in generalthese people will complain about black characters being in video games, movies, comics, TV ads. They hate black people for existing. They use "historical accuracy" to justify their racism, but when you point out all the other historical inaccuracies in a game, that's somehow okay. One time, I talked to a guy who praised The Last Samurai and said it was better. I broke down everything wrong with it, including the fact that the main character didn't even exist in real life. And this guy was cool with that.
Has Assassin Creed ever had an asian protag before?they didn't "shaft" an Asian protagonist for this, though.

The whole base of the Assassin's Creed is bullshit. You can't relive shit from DNA.
I'm just annoyed it's a half assed attempt at including a black character. Why not set it in a black setting where you actually delve deep into black history and characters? That'd be way more cool. It just feels like they're looking for brownie points. There are so many characters in Feudal Japan worth exploring and they settle on the one black character, when there are other much more important figures. Again it's so lazy. There's probably a decent reason for it.
Make a game based around black history. It's about time we had a big game like that, not indies but an actual AAA game. But no, that'd require some actual effort and respect towards the culture. Something these huge corporations have no intention of doing.

for one, they already had Yasuke in mind, so without him, there would likely be no story in the first place.

Edit: Assassins Creed freedom cry was pretty good, now they can try and make a whole game with something like that, not just an expansion.
Theres a viral post about how this is explicitly not the case, but I didnt look too deeply into it.
There is a ass creed game where you play a black woman during the slavery era of America. Had a weird gimmick of changing outfits to alter abilities and what places you could freely roam.
She was a black girl lucky enough to be adopter by a rich white family so she had a high society type dress that would allow her access to most public places but combat and climbing I believe where restricted. Had a slave outfit forget what abilities it gave or removed. Then the typical assassin outfit which let you play like a normal creed game.

unless if the post was from someone behind the scenes at Ubisoft, idk how valid it is (I can't say, though, without seeing its contents).
this game has been rumored/talked about for years, and Yasuke was always a part of it, from my experience, but it wasn't confirmed until fairly recently.
