In terms of analytics a Dunk/Layup is better than a three point attempt.

The priority goes: 1. Free Throw 2. Layup/Dunk 3. Three point shot

Obviously the first two are a lot harder to get an attempt at than the third one which is why you see the third one more commonly.

I know its just hilarious to see the fast break 3 even become a thing. Dudes occasionally passing up a free dunk for it.
