You are correct tc. It would only be in very specific and lucky scenarios wear a reforged sword would come out without too much compromise.I'm only aware of this one instance, tbh.

You'd have to melt the entire thing back down and reforge it as one piece.Melting the whole thing down and casting it would just make it weaker. You'd want to forge a new sword entirely.
