Whats the downside?https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/c/c1dfe1d2.jpg
Whats the downside?Collapse of the food chain. Mass starvation. End of civilization.
Provided 2 things I take the deal there is no negative outcome such as certain animal populations getting out of hand or atleast people go out and thin the herd if they do. Dont have to eat the meat. And stuff like the impossible whopper still exists. It's not as good as the real thing but it's close enough it just like has a different after taste.
Of all the vegan food replacement things, I think burgers are right up there with basically indistinguishable in a lot of cases. Or at least, very very good.
Like once you get a brioche bun and toast it and then add lettuce, tomato, pickles, mustard, ketchup etc...there's a lot of flavour there regardless of what the patty is made of.
Including you. No one will be allowed to eat any kind of meat ever again.
I can' easily taste the difference but I think I have a more sensitive pallete than most people which could explain why I'm picky
I seriously doubt anyone but factory farmers would pass this up. Even then how many cows would they have to slaughter to earn 50 billion. The number would be astronomical. It would take a year to eat through the whole cattle population. Let's not forget pigs, chickens and turkeys. You then have wild animals like deer and wild turkeys that we hunt and eat to keep the population numbers down. How much havoc it would cause. So my vote is no. Don't need the money that bad
With everyone going vegan, there would be more push to increase the quality of vegan food and meat substitutes.

Do I still desire to eat meat, prevented only by this magical curse, or is the desire entirely removed?
That sounds incredibly unhealthy
rip animals lol
No way, I love kitties too much to kill them off :<
nothing in the OP suggests killing pets?Cats, among many other creatures NEED meat. Going vegan would literally cause them to go extinct.

And not only meat; bees eat honey, which isnt vegan. Bye bye bees, bye bye pollination.
Theres more than humans in this world. Gotta try thinking of more than yourself. Because if it was just me, I would go vegan for a fraction of that money. But I wouldnt force that choice upon the world, even if it didnt cause the ecosystem to collapse.
Win win?
I'm pretty sure TC just meant humans go vegan. Not positive but most people would just assume that but people on the internet seem to enjoy mental gymnasticsShotgunnova posted...

Yeah. Other than the world's ecosystem collapsing, it's definitely a "win-win".

it would mean about 3.5 BILLION grazing animals and another 19 BILLION chicken that were marked for slaughter would be released into the wild,
or they would just be slaughtered, which is what would have happened anyway. If theyre slaughtered under current conditions, at the very least theyre being put to use. In this hypothetical, youre just gonna kill them for no reason and have a shitload of animal corpses, rotting away.

or they would just be slaughtered, which is what would have happened anyway. the benefit being that no more will suffer after that, instead of a continual process of slaughtering billions of living creatures over and over and over.
92.2 billion animals are slaughtered for food every year. this would put a permanent stop to that

Which is why I originally said it would be a disaster if you just flipped a switch. It would have to be a gradual move towards veganism over the course of many years, even decades. The only "disaster" would be an economic one as anyone depending on the meat industry would suddenly be out of a job.
Including you. No one will be allowed to eat any kind of meat ever again.
Ok. That's all well and good. Which, AGAIN, is why I said it would have to be a gradual move towards veganism, becasue releasing them all into the wild all at once would kill off more of them anyway.
I swear, people on here would rather dig their heels in and double down on their viewpoint before admitting that they may even slightly not understand what is being said, just becasue they don't agree with it.
There's a lot of medicine that uses gelatin and vegan equivalents aren't always appropriate.
a lot of plant based 'meat' are actually really good.
yup. or we could compromise and say that is the final slaughter. or we could use the animals for pet food, since we would presumably need something to feed cats, etc.The best compromise in this situation would be dependent on how everything went down. Best case scenario:
