I can understand the pseudo-categorizing to an extent, but placing Akira above any Ghibli film is beyond the absurd..

It's not, though. Akira has always been one of the contenders for top anime film.

Have to agree with this. I would place it above any Ghibli film myself.

I highly doubt that you can pick literally "any" Ghibli film and they're all going to be better than Akira.

Earthsea is straight up pretty bad. And that terrible looking 3D animation they did a while back.
