What was it supposed to be?People just died. Wasn't the shadow realm already a thing, but it just wasn't used as much as the dub did it?
People just died. Wasn't the shadow realm already a thing, but it just wasn't used as much as the dub did it?Hell was also real. When the shadow realm got more freaky than usual, in the original, people were literally being sent to hell, and hell is freaky I guess
Killing your enemies:Somehow that makes sense. Ha!
Boring
Predictable
Easy way out
Sending their soul to suffer for eternity in the SHADOW REALM!!:
Intense
Mysterious
Kid friendly!
.wait what, people just originally died? So Yami just casually killed people hed beat in duels? In the early early days, he would do some fucked up punishments. That era is before the well known anime begins, but there's a separate anime called "season 0" which deals with some of that.
.wait what, people just originally died? So Yami just casually killed people hed beat in duels? The original series (prior to Duel Monsters) wasn't so much about the card games as ironic punishments for evil people. He killed people all the damn time.
DB did it better with HFILAh yes, the Home For Infinite Losers lol

.wait what, people just originally died? So Yami just casually killed people hed beat in duels? It was more so the villains. Like in the dub how it's mentioned that Marik sent his father to the shadow realm, in the original he just killed him by stabbing him with the blade that's hidden in the Millennium Rod. And of course stupid shit like the saw blade in the Arkana duel was just the threat of death
Man I really need to rewatch Yugioh. Loved that show as a kid. What seasons are good? It's probably nostalgia mostly but I liked all the seasons of the original show, although they probably don't hold up too well due to how goofy and corny the dub is. I actually have never seen the original Japanese version. I'd like to one of these days
And of course stupid shit like the saw blade in the Arkana duel was just the threat of deathThat was really the only time it was proper stupid IMO.
That was really the only time it was proper stupid IMO.Yeah that and the tag team duel in Battle City life was mentioned before. And the Kaiba Clown was kinda dumb lol
Yeah that and the tag team duel in Battle City life was mentioned before. And the Kaiba Clown was kinda dumb lolOh, I didn't remember the tag team, yeah that one's dumb too.
When he does the "mind crush" thing against Kaiba, he basically just dispels the evil from him.
Shadow Realm ended up improving that imposter in Duelist Kingdom by making him shadow realm magic and tying it into Kaiba's mind crush in episode 1, rather than just having it be some asshole who wore a disguise. >_>Oh, you mean the one who didn't stand a ghost of a chance.
Seems more like brain damage. There was a lot of evil
they cooked with this scene tooThat could almost just be an Abridged scene lol
Ok so how did Joey v Marik work? The whole concept of a "Shadow Game" is real, and pretty much 1 for 1 the same explanation that the dub gave. The Millennium Items have the power to create Shadow Games with various conditions, and the conditions of that duel were that the duelists' soul essentially took real damage when they lost life points.
They ate with the original Pokemon theme song, and the PokeRap.Definitely. I actually didn't realize the iconic pokemon theme song was made by 4kids until recently. I always associated them with the infamous One Piece opening. I also loved all of the PokeRaps (I had memorized the original 150 as a kid), the Pikachu's Jukebox songs and the openings for the Orange Islands and Johto

Arcana's spinning buzz saws of Shadow Realm is definitely dumber though lol
. I actually didn't realize the iconic pokemon theme song was made by 4kids until recently. The original singer actually did a Japanese cover
It's really a toss up, because remember, in the tag team duel, the only way they could escape going into the Shadow Realm was with a parachute lol. That makes sense though honestly, they opened a portal to the Shadow Realm underneath them and they were gonna fall into it.

I watched the Indigo League religiously as a kid. To this day I associate 4Kids with the Pokemon anime and then Yugioh!.

a manga arc about something called Death-T, where Kaiba and Mokuba, in order to take revenge against Yugi...does things such as hiring professional hitmen and literal serial killers to torment them in some fucked up amusement park games.Yeah, the whole thing with Kaiba happens a lot differently in the manga, that's for sure. Mokuba's an evil little gremlin at that point lol
...ate?Oh shit ain't no one bout to explain the slang to him?
I don't think that was ever adapted into the Duel Monsters anime.
Ate what?
