She is not responsible for the hateful posts you see from the likes of Rowling and Musk and whatever shit-for-brains you see if you choose to visit twitter.
She didn't help the situation though. Her behavior was horrendous. But yes. At least she realized that and is apologizing now.It wasn't 'horrendous'. It was pretty much what you would expect.
Nobody likes a sore loser.
I kind of have to wonder at what point does the "unfair" part of the advantage kick in and what part it doesn't. If we're now putting cisgender women who have a DSD through some sort of bizarre "not woman enough" purity test, how is that supposed to work? What even is the criteria? Is there one, or are people just fucking mad that she looks butch?
People can say she had an unfair advantage all they want, but if they can't define what makes someone a woman to the point that they're now wanting to exclude literally cis women with DSDs in that category...well it's just fucking sad.
If that's going to be anyone's argument, they need to commit to saying we should do away with social gendered categories like male and female and just go in with sports categories that attempt to proximately level some amount of androgenisation. Yes, it's ridiculous, but at least it would be consistent.
Lol meanwhile another user says that this was all a stunt so that she could transition into far right politics.I don't know anything about that, but Gazetto dello Sport is the most popular newspaper in Italy. Giving them that interview won't endear her to the far right.
It wasn't 'horrendous'. It was pretty much what you would expect.I'll chime in to say that I agree that commentators/press need to back the fuck off sometimes.
You have to understand that these people train for 4 years, and then a few seconds after their dream dies, some journalist puts a microphone in their face and starts firing questions.
While we sit on our arses and pass judgement as to whether they have shown sufficient grace in the moment. Hell, if they apologize at length later, we may even deign to grudgingly accept it.
This isn't the only instance of it happening in these Olympics. I've seen athletes in tears after some dick with a microphone demands to know 'why performances haven't been good enough', or can you describe your disappointment'. They need to back off.

A (very) small part of the problem here is the IOC has really botched their response. All they need to do is come out and say that all women boxing must have testosterone below an internationally and scientifically accepted threshold and all boxers currently competing are either within that threshold or on testosterone suppression to get below it.
Instead, every time they're asked they just say that all boxers have met all criteria, but they won't say what the criteria is, while also saying that testosterone levels isn't a be-all-end-all and they won't be releasing any medical information. Given that the IOC only recently took over boxing after kicking the IBA out, there is a small possibility that these boxers aren't under any kind of testosterone suppression and are fighting at 30 times the T levels of their opponents.
She did the right thing in pulling out if she felt she was overmatched, and she's done the right thing here. Pretty sure we can understand if someone doesn't say the right things on a moment of crushing disappointment.

what did she say after she lost ?
The IOC should be ones apologizing. Khelif is a bad human being.https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/1/19793258.png

The IOC should be ones apologizing. Khelif is a bad human being.None of these boxers are 'bad human beings', least of all Khelif who has done nothing but compete in a sport in full compliance with the eligibility criteria of the governing body.

Sounds like she was in fear of all the backlash she was getting / going to continue getting.
GameboyTroy is SUSPENDEDNice, kinda wished he stayed long enough to explain what he meant though.
This all could have been prevented if she'd have just shaken the woman's hand but she was such a sore fucking loser that she couldn't manage to do that. It's very magnanimous of her to apologize days after she created the controversy, but I suspect that her apology is less about instigating the harassment of Kheif and more about her (Carini) being made into an unwilling martyr for a cause that is being trumpeted by some explicitly repugnant people.
Good on her for apologizing. Extremely worrying that in her highly agitated emotional state that she went immediately to transphobic nonsense, though.
Hope she continues to work on herself.
Just saying that Simone Biles is regularly beating out her second-place competitor by margins of one to SEVERAL points, which should be nearly impossible at the Olympic level. Places 2-8 are usually within one point of each other. This while being a good bit older than the usual gymnast range.
Yet no one throws a fit about her having some "biological advantage," despite the fact she clearly has one of some description.
Nor did anyone throw a fit about Michael Phelps, with his wild arms, huge feet, and abnormally low lactic acid buildup, all of which gave him an inborn biological advantage his competition could never replicate.
Could it be that the whole reason people are singling out this boxer, who has MANY losses to other women on her record... is because she looks butch? But that would mean they're pieces of shit! Perish the thought!
Katie ledeckyThis has always been weird to me because folks focus on photos of her taken literally minutes after she gets out of the water. Like, no shit she's not gonna look like a model in those photos.
It looks like a half-assed fake apology and that she knew what she was doing. Being upset about losing just not justify intentionally stoking hatred. She didn't 'intentionally stoke hatred', she said that she had never been hit that hard before. Not everyone lives their life like they are posting on social media.

I guess it's easy to make this woman the scapegoat, because she is a single, identifiable person. Not the mass of usual shitbags and Russian trolls who are actually promoting the hatred, and spreading disinformation to be lapped up.
All they need to do is come out and say that all women boxing must have testosterone below an internationally and scientifically accepted thresholdDoes such a threshold exist?
