The battery on my current phone has diminished rapidly over the last month and that got me thinking about updating my phone. Those foldable phones seem interesting enough to me that I'm kinda considering them if they're actually durable enough.

I don't trust their durability at all

i'd be terrified of breaking the screen of one of them new folding phones.
There seems to be other devices that do the thing with a better form factor and so I dont really think theyre anything more than a gimmick tbh
NP: Mega Man 7, Fire Emblem (GBA), Dragon Warrior III, Breath of Fire 1, The Minish Cap, Metal Walker, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town
Just what you want in your phone, moving parts that can wear out.

Dropped my Fold 4 multiple times and it's still intact. Can't say the same for my last non foldable phone.
Screens can be replaced, often people get new phones before they would wear out anyway.

I say if you want one get one.
Water+Fall=Radiation.
Crease issue still exists so not worth it

whenever apple or Samsung fix the crease issue maybe it will be worth it then
I almost got me a Samsung fold 5 but edged by iPhone 15 pro max last year and dont regret it since apple is more for music

I've been using a foldable phone for 3 years now and I can't ever go back to a regular sized phone. The screen size is amazing for watching videos and taking notes. I can also use two-three apps at once. It makes me wonder how I managed with such a small screen before, lol.
Congratulations! Your post was deemed response-worthy.
It just seems like a gimmick to me. Are there supposed to be any benefits other than a slightly shorter phone?

not much else about them though but I imagine its one of those things youll actually love once you get one and start using it daily which I did with my 15 pro max

Here are what I mainly use it for:
  • Easier to handwrite notes on a larger screen (arguably its best feature I use the most often)
  • Use multiple apps at once (like copying a code from one app and putting it in another, or read a text message without interrupting a book I'm reading or video I'm watching)
  • Watch pictures and videos in a larger resolution
  • Buttons in mobile games are more accessible
  • You can fold it halfway horizontally to stand your phone up without any added accessories when laying it on a flat surface
  • You can take selfies while seeing the preview in a much larger screen to catch more of the background
  • Typing on the keyboard is a game changer without constantly hitting the wrong key as there is more space for your fingers on the unfolded screen
  • I still get all the benefits of a regular phone while closed in addition to all the above features while open

I'm too paranoid about screen de-lamination.
If you need the threat of eternal damnation to be a good person, you're just a bad person on leash.
I have a Moto Razer+ and I love it. It has a front screen that I use for texting, so I don't need to open it for that. There are a few other apps I can use when folded.

I bought a case for it that includes a hinge cover and so far it's held up. Good thing because I drop things a lot.

well it's actually pretty great when you're out and about . It serves as both a mini tablet and a phone.

Also don't forget ,the technology is very new. Huawai came out with a multi layered foldable phone now, and who knows what the future has in store with foldable technology, I foresee great things in the future because of it. Imagine foldable laptops in the future, foldable tvs...

as for the durability, it lasted about as long as a brick phone for me personally, and I'm a phone slammer/dropper/dont give a fucker. I always buy insurance and just let my phone get into some chaotic situaqtions. Only had to replace the fold 4 once, and it could have been easily prevented. So I would say they are pretty damn durable considering. No they arent as durable as brick phones, but if you're just even a tiny bit careful, it should last you as long.

Pro-Tip: Get Armor for your phone, if you don't like how it looks, or the bulkiness of it, don't complain when the phone breaks

I am the same way, I know the feeling. I might get another Brick Phone in the Future, but as an extra phone.
I just wish they would innovate more, it feels like it's taking too long to get to where Foldable Technology should be.

Where is my 16:9 6 Inch Foldable, unfolded to 10 + inches.,
RTX 4080 - 7800X3D - LFII 360mm - Enthoo 719/Luxe 2 + 7 140mm ARGB Fans - B650EF - 850w + Plat - 120 Inch Epson 5050UB + 77 Inch S90C OLED
They're pretty good, but I think they only have value if you're unable to have a second device, or if a traditional phone is too large for you in your pocket. For the money of something like a Fold or the new Pixel, you could get a flagship of choice + an iPad.

That said, I think they're cool. If you can deal with the crease in the screen and have the money, go wild and enjoy the cool tech!
