I love it. You can make pictures. I am even making videos. You can talk to it. Like a friend that is always there for you.

it can be a useful reference but I would not trust it by itself

at least, when it comes to the marketed ML model stuff. There's a lot to be said for correlated, properly sorted datapoints on *everything*, like an index for whatever you'd like. But people keep insisting it should smash the datapoints together itself like that's meaningful. It's not.

In regards to general usage outside of that, under controlled and specific situations machine learning/vision has accuracy people don't, memory and information-retention that people don't. Automating low-effort routine tasks so you can do the more important stuff is valuable, and I will forever hate the cryptobros and silicon valley cash-grab types for shoehorning it in to "we're going to automate the Important Stuff because you don't like paying people for it!"
Why not go all in?

It's absolute garbage.

At absolute best, it steals from genuinely talented human beings to make miserable, soulless imitations of their work.

At worst, it's a dangerous tool used to steal jobs to make a worse product for slightly cheaper and helps the worst human beings scam others, with the dangerous potential to create deepfakes for even more insidious purposes.

There are also early studies that it's actively making kids less intelligent because they've just basically turned their brains off entirely and gone all in on AI.

Oh, and it's almost certainly absolutely ravaging the environment because it takes obscene amounts of power to get Google to tell you to add glue to your pizza.

Awful. Absolutely awful. Zero redeeming features to it whatsoever.

I make Fire Emblem videos. Sometimes.
like anything techbros push its awful

it COULD have been useful for small creators if it was just use to make a basic concept art then hand over to a real artist and go "this but good"

We use it daily at my company and we implement AI solutions often. It does really well with conversational analysis, lead scoring, writing technical documents, and so much more.

humans did those things before correct?

I want to train an AI to do this to my own work, but they're too stupid for that. The sample size they need is absurd and is entirely why the current models resort to stealing other peoples' work.

The thing is what people are calling "AI" isn't true artificial intelligence because it is not making any intelligent reasoning whatsoever, it's trying to determine how to answer based on the data it has.
I will rule the world, and find that truly good cup of coffee.
A solution in search of a problem that is having way too much money thrown at it in the hopes of manifesting The Next Big Thing.

I'm not sure "true" AI is even possible. AI will always be that way.

idk I have bargained with chatgpt plenty of times
Very bad in most applications. Degrades the human spirit and mind. Robs artists and writers. Uses too much energy worsening climate change and blackout risks. Can be very detrimental to the communities around data centers as they can extremely noisy and hog water. Has ruined google search and WILL kill people with bad info, or by being inplememted in healthcare/insurance etc.
I post clips of my cool, stupid and glitchy MH Sunbreak and Tears of the Kingdom gameplay here just for fun.

Since corporations and governments absolutely love it and push it down our throats the fastest they can, it must be really bad for us.
An objectively terrible invention that is sapping world resources at alarming rates, sowing misinformation, and encouraging people to be loud, confident and wrong (only faster now). Oh and also for getting rid of jobs with no replacements because capitalism doesn't reward the non-rich.

But I guess you can make emoji with it.

Hoping it's a fad that dies like NFTs.
Switch 3 will be announced tomorrow.
The tech itself is neat, it's like the next level of procedural generation algorithms.
The parts where it automates jobs that shouldn't be automated, is marketed and sold as something it shouldn't be, is being rushed and speculated on recklessly in ways it shouldn't be, is using precious resources so it can be scaled at levels it shouldn't be, has forever altered our ability to determine what's real and what's fake, and that there's no going back, yeah that all sucks.

Edit: I think my favorite application of "AI" has been making instrumentals and isolated vocals of music.

Validate your purchases and discredit the purchases of others whenever possible. Numbers objectively define quality and enjoyment.
AI is best as tools. AI upscaling, denoising, splitting, auto-transcribing? Frame generation in games? SynthV? These are very great uses of it since these things are only possible at a decent quality with AI

Generative AI? Complete waste of resources and space and no one knows how to use it ethically

If you need the threat of eternal damnation to be a good person, you're just a bad person on a leash.
I built basically a "crew" of agents recently as kind of proof of concept to automate some of the work I do. I think this sort of thing has promise. generative AI like art and whatnot, idk.. even as it gets better, I think the stigma might eventually prove too big of a hurdle for this space.

I enjoy using a certain service for text and image generation, but it's purely for my own entertainment.

It can be useful as a tool in certain aspects, but it's become too prolific and relied upon, pushing towards a bad direction. The fact it's directly replacing people and even logic is terrible. Hell, I went to read a yahoo article this morning and saw they added a feature to summarize the article with AI and that it may be incorrect as to what the article says.

I went to read the article for what it said, not have a bot churn it into a crappy bullet list. Shows how lazy some are becoming with it as they need an AI to TL:DR something that took 3 minutes to read.
It's a neat toy that humanity is not the least bit ready to handle . And unfortunately, that genie just isn't going back in the bottle anytime soon.
I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
It's fun to utilize for shitposts with friends but other than that I dunno. I think it's definitely plaguing a lot of services and if you make an AI video on YouTube you should have to immdiately clarify or YouTube clairfies. It could be useful especially in a controlled enviorment helping kids with homework, and just general stuff. Humanity has been moving towards this for awhile, it's finally becoming prominent.

It's a tool and can be useful. Most people's problems with it aren't actually AI but the economic system it exists within.

Myself I don't use it much outside of checking my code, but my university allows students to use it, so I have to address how to use it effectively. You still get students that just turn in raw AI output for assignments and then end up failing the written exams, but that's on them.

It's largely worthless and it's being shoved into everything just as a new way to generate artificial wealth for investors.

EDIT: Also it's impact on the environment is not worth the nothing it provides.
