They used to have a reputation for being quick, cheap cash grabs with very little effort or fun to be found in them, though you occasionally found the odd gem in the pile of shit.

I think my favorite was the Star Wars Revenge of the Sith game. You got to play through the story while swapping between Obi-Wan and Anakin complete with their own unique moves, and even had cool what-ifs like Anakin dueling Mace. The game also had a 1v1 duel mode and it was actually fun as hell. Had so much effort put into it for a side mode, and the characters talked some real good shit to each other. I always remember this one random Jedi girl's line to Vader ''Which one of those buttons calls for help?'' lmao.

This will be a day long remembered.
The Hook game that was a Monkey Island ripoff (down to the insult swordfighting) on the Amiga was great.

That Batman Begins movie tie in was super underrated.

Spiderman takes the cake. You can literally play as Green Goblin (Jr) and they gave like, actual lines and dialogue. Ironically I never did get to play the Spiderman 2 game and people swear by it, saying that it's the best one with the best web swinging of all time and stuff like that.

Always wished it was available digitally just to see for myself if true.

Goldeneye was probably my favourite for the time it released. Aged like milk but was fantastic.
A lot, if not most of the Disney games from the NES and SNES/Genesis era were great.
This is a signature.
Oh I also heard that the 2009 wolverine tie-in game was "surprisingly decent" for such a shitty movie, but also have never gotten the chance to play to confirm if true.

Ive also heard that, but having played it, I cant see why it has that reputation.
I remember those early 2000s hack n slash LOTR games. They were great

I thought Star Wars: Podracer was one hell of a cool racing game. I don't even normally like racing games, but the level variety was superb and there was a good sense of progression with the upgrade system.

Goldeneye and Perfect Dark spoiled shooters for me. So many FPS from the next generation featured bullet sponge enemies, thought I was firing BBs at robots. I loved shooting people in GE/PD, they react and say funny shit.

One of the weirder ones I remember enjoying was Shrek 2. I've never even been into Shrek, but I rented it from Blockbuster as a kid when there was literally nothing else there at the time and was pleasantly surprised. IIRC it was this big ass RPG with a ton of different characters that all had unique gimmicks.

For its time, Alien Trilogy was fun. Way too dated and repetitive for most folks these days, but I loved it on the Saturn.

Peter Jackson's King Kong was decent.

Mad Max was great, too bad it didn't get a sequel.

I was a little disappointed that The Little Mermaid didn't get remastered with other Disney games this gen, it was actually one of the better Disney games.

Ive never been much into turn-based RPGs, but I fucking love this game.

Is it more simplified to other similar turn-based games? I dont know any well enough to compare but it wouldnt surprise if thats why I liked it

A lot of people like to shit on ubi, but as someone who has been lukewarm about the whole cat people avatar, their relatively recent game was pretty great.

It was one of the best world sims I have played until they nerfed the piss out of enemies and changed how rare resources spawned.

Crafting was also fun as hell, generally Im all for changes that just let people have fun but they broke how the world worked so it crammed high level mats down your throat and really did make exploring pandora feel more pointless. A lot of the cool hard to reach/out of the way places would let you craft gear that was literally twice as strong. Made it feel a little epic to find the secret grotto where the perfect plants grew, then to harvest everything right and make some new badass weapon.

Great game in a lot of ways really, some good combat segments where you could feel the mass of being a giant run amok, fun flying exploration and good movement tech. Beautiful too.

Lion King and Aladdin come to mind. I had both on the Super Nintendo. I was also fond of Airwolf on NES, but that was a TV show.

The weird Shrek fighting game was also hilarious, but a far cry from good
"I, Garland, will knock you all down!"
From what I can remember I enjoyed the Super Star Wars series on the SNES and Batman Returns also on the SNES.
That's just prime.

I liked Super Empire Strikes Back, and to a lesser extent Super Return of the Jedi.

Then there was Spider-Man 2, ofc.

Kind of a hot take, but Enter the Matrix is underrated. It had outdated controls (even then) and a number of technical problems, but it was a fun game with really ambitious gameplay.

The Chicken Run game on the psx was genuinely really good.

They could have just cobbled together a quick platformer.

Instead they made a MGS game.
