If I took my kid out of daycare and got on food stamps, I could probably. But if my household income suddenly dropped to $4K, I would have to move back in with my parents.
Can you say David Hasselhoff?
I can and do. Last year I made about 3k a month after taxes. Own my house and vehicle, have a kid 50/50 custody. Had money to spend on vacations and other stuff my kid or I wanted.

This year I have been volunteering for overtime, because I got a new vehicle. But it's mainly to get it paid off as quick as possible.
That's quite a bit less than I make but I could probably do it.

Not comfortably but yes. I currently take home about $4500 a month minimum (I get lots of OT so that usually gets up to 5-6k), total of all bills is $3714.28, leaving me with $786 left over which would have to go to gas, groceries, savings, and misc spending. Gas and groceries alone would eat up almost all of that.

Once I get a few of these debts paid of though I'll be golden. ~1000 goes to non-mortgage debts each month.

Easily.

In fact, at 4K a month I'd consider myself rich.

This. That's almost twice my income lol.

$1700/month is not a very expensive mortgage. So I don't understand what you mean.

The way you worded it made it sound like $4k would only cover 40% of your mortgage. I also WTF'd when I read that.

Yeah I worded that really weird...
Yeah you implied you had a $10k mortgage.

We can, but that leaves literally no savings. We are more adamant about paying off the house in 10 years than we are in saving for retirement.

Yeah, actually. In Michigan I think you might be able to make rent with that.

"Might?" Maybe you're being sarcastic but I can't even fathom where you could even find a 4K a month apartment in Michigan lol

Yeah, they're not actually that high a month. Maybe like 2,000 a month in some places.

4K yes, I will say however I BARELY make it at 2K so the extra 2K comes in handy and can help get me things I otherwise don't normally have the pleasure of buying, or going.

I get by fairly well on 2400-2450 a month so making 4000 a month would be a god send for me.
