I don't know how well it would work, but if you do that you could try adding seasoning to the butter in the skillet before putting the sandwich back on. Like Italian seasoning or whatever, something to encrust the outside.

You're aiming for a bit of a "crust/crunch," that could help a bit.

But I'm a dumbass in the kitchen, so I might be giving terrible advice.
