Depends. Buuuuuuut here's my favorite "cheap shit" method.this sounds great. what cheese to bread ratio do u recommend?
1. Wonderbread. Yes that wonderbread. Lightly toast first.
2. Spread small amount of butter both sides.
3. Use shredded cheese to both slices of bread. American cheese is also ok.
4. After like a minute of grilling slap cheese sides together and flip until thoroughly melted
I no longer eat dairy but when I did Id use real cheese or if I was going to use melty fake cheese Id use velveeta. I cant do the kraft singles. That stuff doesnt melt good enough for me.
Also mayo makes the best grilled cheese and there is science behind it with the smoking point and yada yada but basically if you butter only the inside of your bread and spread a thin schmear of mayo on the exterior of the sandwich, you create the ideal conditions for the bread to toast, cheese to melt and butter to shine. The mayonnaise doesnt actually provide flavor if youre a mayo hater, you wont even taste it, I promise but instead encourages ideal browning and melting.
gonna grab white bread and Kraft singles.https://youtu.be/nIP5ypkMf5Q?si=HSpb5QWgOVnfOlj8

I use a bit of mayonnaise spread on the outside of the bread when I fry it. Lube the pan with a bit of butter as well before you throw the sandwich in
As much as I love mayo i don't find it appealing on grilled cheese. Same with miracle whip. Butter on both sides AND in the pan, for cheese Kraft singles is alright (TC) I prefer Velveeta or if you want to get fancy Cooper Sharp. The bread I use is Italian since it makes for a wide looking sandwich...the ratio I leave a bit of room open so it can melt properly without sticking to the pan much.Velveeta has the wrong consistency for grilled cheese IMO it's meant for things like Mac & cheese or making cheese dips. Kraft singles on the other hand is basically formulated specifically to make quick & dirty grilled cheese.
ive heard of the mayo strat but as a mayo hater i am scared. im willing to try it thomy daughter hated mayonnaise at first but turned out the mother smothered her serving w/ it which would probably make her dislike it
I don't use Kraft, though it certainly does melt better.
It's still relieving to know I can make a better grilled cheese than Gordon Ramsay. You can clearly tell the dude has never made a grilled cheese in his life and was just trying to wing it with ingredients that he liked without any idea of how to actually cook it.
It's still relieving to know I can make a better grilled cheese than Gordon Ramsay.he never made beef taste like deer before tho I am gambling
You can make any cheese melt with the right ingredients. The reason why American melts so well is that it's basically 60% water & oil. You can get a dryer cheese like cheddar and add sambal to give the extra moisture it needs to melt properly. Plus it tastes better.
You can get a dryer cheese like cheddarinstructions unclear, melted cheese is now all up inside clothes dryer
https://youtu.be/8E4cQHejFq0?si=5r4X-1M7LO-8Cl2FHis cheese isn't even melted at all. I normally like Ramsay methods but this one fails.
i think ill apply a high finishI don't know how well it would work, but if you do that you could try adding seasoning to the butter in the skillet before putting the sandwich back on. Like Italian seasoning or whatever, something to encrust the outside.
https://youtu.be/8E4cQHejFq0?si=5r4X-1M7LO-8Cl2FEven better is his "redemption" video where he uses at least five pans, about a dozen ingredients, has to cook it in the oven,
im gonna do it!!!
His cheese isn't even melted at all. I normally like Ramsay methods but this one fails. And then he fucked it up again for the redo video
You must have tomato soup for dipping the sandwich, also.
Even better is his "redemption" video where he uses at least five pans, about a dozen ingredients, has to cook it in the oven, and the cheese still doesn't melt.
