Just like with 1-2-Switch, this really should had been a pack-in title, since the whole point is to demonstrate the Switch 2's new features. I'm not sure why Nintendo seems opposed to this; hell, Reggie had to fight with Iwata and Miyamoto to make Wii Sports be a pack-in title for the Wii (in Japan, Wii Sports was sold separately).

Meanwhile, Playstation gave out Astro's Playroom for free in every PS5 console.

I'd buy it if it's like 5 bucks.

Seems like a fun way to learn about the system

The next new feature is that you will have to pay 10 dollars to unlock the analog sticks.

Yeah the fact its paid is wild to me.

Honestly every console should by default come packed with at least one game. It sucks the industry got away from that.

lmao even Sony wasn't that greedy with Astro's Playroom

Astro's Playroom, not Astro Bot.

Yeah, I'd never pay for this. Should have been free.

Money, no doubt.

But yeah. It really should be. The Wii had Wii Sports outside of Japan, and the 3DS had AR Games, Face Raiders, and StreetPass Mii Plaza. Nintendo Land, 1-2-Switch, and this new Welcome Tour all should had been pack-in titles for their respective consoles (though I can somewhat excuse Nintendo Land, as it is a full game despite also functioning as a tech demo).

This looks even more basic than 1+2 Switch was, let alone Astro's Playroom

Eh, it was Astro's Playroom not Astro Bot. With that said, agreed...LMAO

Oh, I'm not buying it just like I didn't buy 1-2-Switch, but it's the principle of it. The whole point of the game is to introduce the Switch 2's new features and show how they work. Such a thing would make way more sense as a game already included with the console, not something you have to shell out even more money for.

Okay, I won't buy a Switch 2.

I too thought it strange that what is basically an interactive guide for the console cost money
How quaint.

Typically manufacturers want the consumer to know about how their product works, so they are more likely to buy said product, are less likely to inundate the manufacturer with how it works, and are less likely to return said product when they are confused with how it works.

It's an actual game not just an instruction manual

It totally should.. But unfortunately, we're working with a totally different Nintendo know. One that's very overconfident and not afraid to set the industry standard on pricing. The company that hasn't given permanent price drops for its Switch consoles and games...

Makes sense they did it on the WIi after the GC was a failure (in consoles sold).
Less is more. Everything you want, isn't everything you need.
Welcome Tour it says, as it asks for your credit card numbers again.

Even the steam deck has its own free tech demo. The arrogance is palpable.

June 10, 2018. The day Dante returned to us. Do what you want, just don't expect to get paid.
All I remember is that the Wii came with Wiisports.

I figured they wouldn't be able to top Astro's Playroom, but they could have at least tried.

Astro's playroom was an actual game too (albeit short). This just looks to be Switch 2 trivia and literal tech demos.

Reggie pushing to get Wii Sports packed in with US Wiis is probably his greatest contribution. That game was the reason most people - even people outside of gaming - bought the console.

You think they are humbled with a $500 launch price and testing the waters with $80 games?
Hmm...
I cant tell if Nintendo thinks gamers are genuinely dumb or if theyre just that greedy. They spent time on this bs instead of developing new games.

They spent the better part of the hour explaining basic components. Nevermind that ridiculous camera.

I don't think this one took very long to develop...

The argument is that it's so basic and barebones that it should have been free.

It *is* incredibly basic. Oh wow, you added a mic and a cooling fan. Like every console has had for 20 years.
